TrophyHusband 0 #1 July 18, 2007 i'm thinking about taking my brother there next weekend. he's been doing a lot of hiking with his kids and really enjoying it, but he mentioned that he wanted to challenge himself. i'm in washington for the next week and a half and decided to take him on a challenging hike. i originally wanted to do mt adams all in one shot, but he's to stubborn to turn around if he got mountain sickness, and the last time i went up there, i swore i wouldn't go back until i got crampons and an ice ax (i haven't gotten them yet). is this a good dayhike? any other recommendations for a good long dayhike? i'm staying in longview and don't want to have to drive much more than three hours. 1969912 0 #2 July 18, 2007 We camped there on the way to the summit 20 years or so ago. Plan on 6+ hrs round trip for the hike. There should be some stuff on the web. We got here in the dark, slept a couple hours, and started climbing before it was light. On the way down we just blazed through Muir, so I don't remember much. Should be killer views if it's clear. I think it's ~10,000 ft.
