skysprite 0 #1 July 18, 2007 Have you ever forgotten an "important date?" How long did it take you to remember? My Dad is in deep shit, inside the dog house, that happens to be floating in a damaged dingy up shit creek: and of course, he doesn't have a paddle. - Back in April he forgot my mother's birthday. Didn't remember until the next day. - Yesterday he forgot their 27th wedding anniversary. She finally reminded him yesterday evening. - For 27 years, she's been reminding him of "important dates" far in advance. He usually doesn't do much more than a card with a poem etc because he "didn't have enough time to prepare/do something." - Without being reminded, he has yet to forget his parents' or brother's birthdays ever, which is a sore spot. He makes it a point to call each of them on their day. - Without being reminded, he has yet to forget his daughters' birthdays, which isn't a sore spot but serves as further proof that he is capable of remembering "important days." I talked to him on the phone earlier this morning so I know he's still alive, but I dunno, I'm kinda scared! Truth be told he's more upset with himself over this than Mom is. But that's not gonna stop Mom from giving him shit. ~skysprite

livendive 8 #3 July 18, 2007 Today is my daughter's birthday. Thanks for reminding me to call her BEFORE meeting with my accountant this afternoon and getting a bazillion random thoughts cluttering my little brain. JustChuteMeNow 0 #5 July 18, 2007 I just posted this on Jay's 11 Things Women don't know thread. Men will never forget a) your birthday, b) Valentine’s Day, or c) our wedding or first kiss or first date or first ‘I Love You’ anniversary if you would just remind us that it is coming up. My wife is usually pretty good about giving me a nice reminder but one year she decided not to say anything about our anniversary coming up and told our girls not to say anthing either. I did indeed forget and my wife bless her heart wasn't angry she just made me buy her love. So I bet this would work for your Mom as well. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.

skysprite 0 #7 July 18, 2007 Yeah I actually saw your post and that's what made me post this. Like I said she reminds him about stuff every year. This year she too asked me and my sis not to mention anything around her birthday. As for yesterday, I think she, dad and I were actually talking about their anniversary early last week so you can't say that he had absolutely no idea it was coming up. But he was really bummed and down on himself after he realized. Still, you'd think you'd remember that the 17th is an important day for at least two months out of the year. Her birthday: April 17 Their anniversary: July 17 ~skysprite
JustChuteMeNow 0 #8 July 18, 2007 Yeah I really screwed up on my anniversary because I got married the day after Thanksgiving and unfortunately this date keeps changing every year. I do however remember her birthday every year. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that. SpeedRacer 1 #9 July 18, 2007 There are services out there that will send you emails just before certain dates. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
SpeedRacer 1 #11 July 18, 2007 On a related topic, there's this married couple who are friends with my parents. The husband has secretly bribed his wife's hair stylist to call him at the office whenever his wife comes in to get her hair done. That way he knows when he should complement her on her hair when he gets home. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
