woodpecker 0 #1 July 22, 2006 I have the retail therapy bug right now at work and want to buy new risers for my Javelin J-1 but not sure the size of them, and after searching the forums I'm to believe the average stock size of risers are 21-22 inches. Is this true? Am I ok with ordering 21-22 inch risers and not affect performance? Also, any recommendations on which risers are most sought after now (velcroless of course) ? thanks in advance, BillySONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? You can give them the Serial Number for your harness-container and they can tell you the length of the risers that were originally on the harness. Those folks are quite receptive to questions and extremely helpful. Chuck
riggerrob 643 #3 July 23, 2006 The fashion was more like 19 inches when I worked at Rigging Innovations, but it really depends upon your arm length. The biggest variable is whether you can grab your slider kill lines. For example, my arms are long enough that I can easily grab my slider with 22 or even 24 inch risers. On the other hand, short people - say 5 feet tall - have asked me to make 17 inch risers for them.
Squeak 17 #4 July 23, 2006 QuoteOn the other hand, short people - say 5 feet tall - have asked me to make 17 inch risers for them. Question in relation to shorter risers. If you have shorter risers, this can effect the "flatness" (the spread of the lines) of the canopy. So to counter this can you uniformly lengthen the line set. or is the difference negligible? You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! Slurp56 0 #5 July 23, 2006 To find your current length, measure the webbing from the fold at the big ring to the end of the webbing where the connector link would go.________________________________________ I have proof-read this post 500 times, but I guarantee you'll still manage to find a flaw.
