shropshire 0 #2 July 24, 2007 Fantastic.... we loved our Dobbie (She was red and had a fantastic nature too). She loved to go running with me. I'd have another any day. Enjoy. (.)Y(.) Slowfaller 0 #4 July 24, 2007 Quotewow, cool and nice dog! congrats.. now just dont forget about that dog training.. i love my dobermann-rottweiler baby.. He already knows sit and come but I plan on working with him. We can't have a dog of this size running the house plus, a lot of people are afraid of Dobermans and similar breeds (German Shepheards, pits, rottys etc..) virgin-burner 1 #5 July 24, 2007 yea, the other people, thats what the whole deal is about.. but if you show good control, and the dog shows VERY good obedience, that relaxes most people.. i like scary dogs, usually keeps the asses off my back.. and if that doesnt suffice, some nasty order to the dog and a grip to the necklace does the job.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. bigway 4 #6 July 24, 2007 Here are mine. Got them about 2 months ago from the shelter. They have destroyed all the furniture, New furniture to kit out our entire house arrives tomorrow so i have no clue what to do about these two rascals. They are brother and sister and we are lucky enough that we were able to house train them within a couple of weeks of having them. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . hungarianchick 0 #13 July 24, 2007 Beautiful dog, be absolutely sure though he is not dog agressive before you introduce him to little Syd. If trained well and consistantly reinforced, dobies are wonderful companions. "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."
Slowfaller 0 #14 July 25, 2007 Hello We picked up Chopper today at 5pm after a somewhat sad goodbye from their owners and he jumped right in my back seat and laid down which was good. No nervousness or whining, or puking lol. Our first stop before home was the petstore to exchange his new bad ass studded collar for a smaller bad ass studded collar. I cringed when I heard the "Back away" from worried mother to her kid. It makes me sad this breed has such a terrible reputation, I'm really worried about my townhouse association raising hell even though there is a pitbull down the street. (which has a worse reputation and is more in the news around here) The trip to the pet store was uneventful so we headed home to meet up with some friends, my parents and in-laws. The impression Chopper made on them was amazing, he nailed sit, down, and paw like a champ. I think this goofball was showing off a little. Time to bring him in to meet little 7lbs Sydney (again). Instant friends. Both of their little nubs never stopped wiggling as the sniffed and jumped around like idiots. And when it was time to wind down and watch some Twin Peaks (my wife and her friend are watching all 29 or whatever episodes on DVD every Tuesday) Chopper laid there quietly and chewed his shiny new bone w/ bacon flavored filling and wrestled Sydney a bit more. Bed time came with some anxiety as he is used to sleeping in his previous owners bed and my wife isn't having that. We first started with just a round dog bed in the corner of our room and he was too busy being goofy and running through our place that I had to bring his crate inside and set that up. After some luring with treats he was "locked up" and laid down. He started barking a bit and that turned into a whiney growl which I think he was sharing his displeasure with being in the crate. This only lasted about ten minutes. All in all I think he's adjusting great and will be really happy at our home. I located a dog park that he'll be signed up with so he can run off leash and cause trouble. Thank you all for the nice comments, dobermans are intimidating animals to look at when their ears are cropped and they stand tall but this guy is so sweet it should put any prejudice to rest once anyone meets the Chopper. virgin-burner 1 #16 July 25, 2007 nice story, thanks for sharing.. dobies somehow like "luxury" like a nice duvet to lay down on. well, mine does. and if you want to move her, she'll growl a bit, expressing her disliking.. and always at night time/morning time she jumps into bed, getting a cuddle and wishing good night/good morning..“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S.
