DZ.com Weight Loss/HEALTH Challenge -WEEK 7

Recommended Posts

I was at 194 this morning. Looks like I'm doing a pound a week. I've been doing way more jumps the past few weeks.

I even got to climb a tree today and hike in a corn field. (main in field, freebag in 60ft tree, 1 broken brake line.)

:D:D That is great!

Well I think all together maybe 3 lbs.....:S

It is so hard to have good eating habits when you work in the medical field cause some days you don't get a chance to eat until the time you get off and you are so hungry that you pig out. I had too work too locations today and my lunch hour basically was driving from one spot to another so I treated myself to Taco bell ....lol I did I ran my ass off at the Urgent care so it should balance out.

Previos Weeks Weight: 259.6 (I think)
Current Weeks Weight: 257.2
Weight Change: -2.4 pounds
Total Weight Loss: -43.8
So thats 7.2 pounds till my first skydive!!!
This is what I hate about weight loss- the first 30 pounds flew off- since then it's a struggle. And these last 7 seem like they will take forever. I'm almost starting to wonder if I'll make jump weight before the first snowfall.
Anyway, the Jiu jitsu is still great. Unfortunatley, I tweaked my neck (suprisingly, I'm pretty sure I did it while I was sleeping) so I've had to alter my training. I'm only doing positional training- no live rolling right now, which sucks because theres so much more of a cardio workout when your rolling 4 minute rounds. Went to the Chiropractor, and it was good for about a day and a half, and then it came back. Oh well. It will get better soon enough. And this also goves me reason to take a day or two off of training to let my arm heal up a little more (got arm barred pretty good, and my elbow still hurts). Catch all of you next week.

Keep up the good work!!!!

The sole intention, is learning to fly.Condition grounded, but determined to try. Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies.Tongue tied and twisted, just an Earth bound misfit.

A month ago, I weighed 239. I weighed 224 on the 22nd. This morning I weighed 214. Don't ask me how I did it, because it is a very stupid, expensive and dangerous way to do it...

Then again, Stupid, Dangerous and Expensive apparently hasn't been a big stumbling block for me... LOL... I'm here, instead of working on my bowling skills between slices of pizza and pitchers of beer...

;)

The jist is to keep my calorie intake to around 100 per day (can of tuna or one boiled egg), swim for six hours each night, lift weights every night, take two vitamins every day and drink about 7 gallons of water.

If I don't die of a heart attack or some god-awful brain hemorrhage I'll be on the DZ in
:(

Four pounds to go...

My goal is 180, but 210 will get me back in the saddle, which is what I am really killing myself for... Once I hit that I can go a little more conservative and throw in a carrot or two or even a beer to reward myself..

If anybody wants to see something funny, I can go shirtless and my AFF Instructors can just grab my loose skin instead of my jumpsuit on the way down...

just started back at ther gym today, not so much concerned with my wieght as where the weight is, my waist is 40", that's about 5-6" too big, I need to get it down,. in turn it should also allow me to drop about 22 pounds (10kg).
It's not healthy for guys to carry excess weight on their hips and waist:|

You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)
My Life ROCKS!
How's yours doing?

Yup it's a red flag for heart disease when you carry the weight in the middle.

Good to get it off! :)

Since the last time I checked, I've lost 4 lbs. My goal is to get to 230 and then keep going from there.

My body fat dropped 1.5% too. Slowly but surely...

:)

Cool! Good job. :)
I was going to weigh myself this morning, but I dunno...I was doing SO INCREDIBLY well this weekend until we stopped at Red Lobster on our way home from our weekend business functions...[:/]

I just weighed myself, and I'm only 1/2 pound up from my lowest 2 weeks ago (I've been going up and down with about a pound and a half the past couple of weeks).

So I guess that's not bad for pigging out at Red Lobster. :)

I dropped about 2 pounds, plus the body fat % is creeping down and I am hitting the gym regularly. Of course that 2 pound loss was Friday BEFORE I spent the weekend at the DZ drinking way too much beer, and this coming weekend will be a long one- Thursday thru Sunday- Summerfest! Yeah!

No gym at the dz, but a nice long walk through the corn and back to the hangar in 90% heat + humidity made me miss my workout a little less yesterday!:$ And seriously, a walk like that at my weight (and condition) last year would have left me battling heat exhaustion.

There's a lot of diets out there and a lot of BS so watch out what you're doing to yourself....you could cause yourself a lot of pain for temporarily dropping a couple of pounds just to put them back on in a week.

Number one mistake that most people make is to just start working out like nuts and drop their calorie intake to some ridiculously low number.....the effect is that you put a lot of strain on your body and start dropping water weight, but since your body's alarm goes off because your calories dropped below a sustainable amount it starts collecting anything it gets and stores it as fat. So you get dehydrated and gain fat and start burning up muscle trying to survive. Then when you get off your diet you start drinking and eating again normally.....well, that water weight and muscle that you lost that made you think you were losing weight.....it goes up real quick and since your body stored up all that fat..............Ta DA, you gained more weight, lost muscle, and gained fat.

Tips:

1. Talk to you doctor before you start any new exercise plan. There's no sense in starting a diet if it's gonna kill you or ruin your liver.

2. Eat Healthy and keep your daily calorie count in between 1,500 and 1,700. That way your body doesn't think it's starving and lets you burn some calories and not just water and muscle. Also, eat five to six meals a day....this way your body isn't bombarded with an excessive amount of calories at once. So for instance if you did five meals, 300 calories a meal and then you could use 200 calories in the evening for a snack.

3. Drink lots of water. Don't drink 8 gallons a day, but somewhere between 4 to 8 quarts a day. Water flushes your systems and cleans all that old crap out.

4. Exercise.....you don't need to run a triathalon or spend 10 hours on a treadmill a day. Your body works like an engine and think of fat and food as fuel.....first you gotta burn off the food and then your body moves to the fat. You gotta burn off more calories through exercise than you intake (eat) on a daily basis. Then after you drop your goal weight move to only exercising 3 days a week to maintain that weight. Also note that cardio or weight training alone is not the quickest way to lose weight........you lose more weight by doing a little of both. Like I said, You don't need to over do it, little by little.......it's unhealthy to drop a lot of weight at once and you have the rest of your life to drop it. You should be able to ruin through your workout in about 30 minutes and then another 30 minutes of cardio and you're all good.

5. Keep a journal/logbook......just like skydiving. Keep a record of your exercises, what you ate for each day, and record your weight each day. That way you can track your progress. And be honest, sneaking in a snack isn't gonna hurt anyone except you.....then again you can have snacks, just sacrifice a little throughout the day and save up the calories that you don't use.

6. Returning to normal....another big mistake people make when finishing a weight reduction program is "Great I lost all the weight, now I can get back to eating those lovely cheeseburgers". Wrong! With age, loss of metabolism, bad genetics....whatever it is...........going back to the same routine will get you in the same predicament you just got yourself out of. Treat yourself every once in a while, but the key is moderation.

It's as simple as that........that's the secret to any new exercise plan that allows you to drop weight in a healthy manner. It's up to you, your determination and no one else.

Good luck, keep safe....but most of all have fun.

PS - if you're new to the fitness thing or aren't sure where to start, feel free to drop me a line. I'm not a personal trainer, but I can give you some tips.....there's a lot of good info out there.
...and you're in violation of your face!
