psipike02 0 #1 July 17, 2006 First I apologize as I know this has come up 1,000 times.... Alright, so nows the time where its time to get a rig as I'm fucking sick of using student gear. I've read the numerous past posts on here as well as the articles about it, but figured I'd ask anyways.. Ultimately, I would like to buy something used, but I don't have an average build nor do I fly small canopies. My problem is when I find something that has the canopy size/types I want, the container is too small. I'm 6'5 and 235 lbs. I'm currently flying 260's but ready to downsize to a 230 where I'll stay for a while. My question is, is it even worth it to look for used? Should I just get a new container and used canopies and AAD and stuff? I've asked several of my instructors and friends that I trust and there seems a group for one and a group for the other....Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
AggieDave 6 #2 July 17, 2006 Check around, you might be able to find a rig that will fit you and your needs. However, you may find yourself in need of a new container but you can still buy your canopies used. Call some of the larger gear stores that have a lot of used gear come through their doors. They may have something that will work for you.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
NWFlyer 2 #3 July 17, 2006 If you haven't already placed a wanted ad here on DZ.com, do that ... that's how my main found me. Never got listed, but the dealer who had it got in touch with me."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Guest #4 July 17, 2006 Hey- Yea, check on the classifieds here and also check with your DZ. I know my DZ will sell their rental gear to you if you like it...not sure if your's does the same. For my rig, I'm going used everything minus the container...just can't find a good freefly friendly that'll fit my canopies and my body. It may be a bit more expensive that way, but I see it as I'll get a harness that will fit me nicely. Cheers!
GravityGirl 0 #5 July 18, 2006 I had a big boy quitting the sport come into my store this weekend asking about consignment. He is quitting the sport. He has a 230 main. Don't have details yet, but PM me after the weekend and I'll see if I have a match for you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
