ntrprnr 0 #1 July 24, 2007 Major power outage below a major OC-3 artery in San Francisco. Sites ranging from Technorati.com (www.technorati.com) to Typepad www.typepad.com (which hosts thousands of blogs, including PRDifferently.com www.prdifferently.com are all down. Fortunately, Perez Hilton is still up, so I can get my Lindsay fix. Annoying as hell, though._______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." sharimcm 0 #4 July 24, 2007 I might be experiencing a power outage soon. There are some very hellacious thunderstorms hitting us right now. The lightning is close and the lights have flickered, but so far, so good. I haven't tried any other sites other than yahoo and dz.com, so luckily, I haven't had problems with the internet. Cornholio 0 #12 July 24, 2007 I don't know what you're talking about. All those sites load up just fine for me. I love the message on Typepad.com "TypePad is currently unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we're working hard to bring the service back online as soon as possible. For updates and more information, visit status.sixapart.com." Umm, so if it's down, why am I seeing this message? Maybe us locals to SF have a different route than you East Coasters. Particularly if you're coming in through the Mae-West links. Cornholio 0 #16 July 24, 2007 QuoteTypepad is doing a redirect. Pinging their IP's has them all offline. No redirect here. I can see their main page just fine. I think it's purely an East-West interconnect problem. Since I'm on the west coast just south of SF, I go through just a few hops to get there. eeneR 3 #21 July 25, 2007 QuoteYou may or may not be surprised to find out how often generators fail to kick in correctly. Oh I know they hiccup all the time, and that is the whole point of having multiple generators as well as a strong enough ups system, coupled with periodic testing to help make sure there are no major issues that come up at the wrong possible time. The sister site I am at right now is also a CO, we have a total of 5 generators, 3 of which are exclusive to the data center. The larger site has 7 just for the data center. Not to mention two separate incoming power links from two different grids.
