What is a PHP file?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help the barely computer literate individual?

Whenever i download a file from Skydivingmovies.com they are downloaded as .php file and neither Quicktime nor WMP will play them.

Please help?

Thanks ;)

here's a quick fix for you. I sometimes had that issue on some windows machines.

first look at the name of the file listed on skydivingmovies and see what extension it has (.wmv, .mov, .mpeg etc)
when you save the file, rename the .php to something that has the right extension (so instead of .php it should be .wmv or whatever it's supposed to be).

Thanks Phree, i'll try it again but normally it gives me the "download from" link and if i click on that link the file will open in Quicktime or WMP and play automatically. If i right click and select "save as" it will save it as the .php to my Hard Drive. Any suggestions?

Ok...that was a fix but nobody has answered the question of "what is a PHP file?"

Oh wait....rather than being lazy, I made the effort to find something myself:

http://www.ask.com/web?q=what+is+a+.php+file%3F&search=search&qsrc=0&o=0&l=dir

:)

My reality and yours are quite different.

The site has been doing that for a long time. I wonder if that is something dave could fix. Someone should let him know!

Just copy the correct filename before right clicking, then paste it in, instead of pafiledb.php when you try to save. Or rename it after downloading. The correct file is downloaded, but the filename gets screwed up.

Tried a lot of tips to fix that, but could never get it to work correctly in firefox. Well, I did get it to work for a few hours, but then the server crashed. Had to undo that fix! Works correctly in internet explorer. Dunno about Safari... it crashed every time I tried.
