mnealtx 0 #2 August 2, 2007 Used one as a kid...you'll get a workout from it! It probably won't cut as evenly as a motorized mower.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
pirana 0 #3 August 2, 2007 Reel mowers can be manual, motorized, or pull behind. The big limitation with a reel mower is that it does not work well at all on longer grass. You will need to mow with much greater frequency. (Think golf course mowing schedule). No mowing hay with one of those babies." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
Armour666 0 #4 August 2, 2007 depends on your take of medium ? I use to use one at our old house and it was a much better cut. As others have mentioned you need to cut more often as it's not great on longer grass. I enjoyed using mine and the quiet slicing sound it made. now I have almost an acre of gras so it's not getting much useSO this one time at band camp..... Would you recommend it for a medium sized lawn? http://www.cleanairgardening.com/reelmowers.html When I lived in VA I had a townhouse with a very small yard and had a reel mower. It worked great.. I've since moved to Oklahoma and have an actual yard with bermuda.. I mowed it 4 or 5 times with the reel mower and had to give up. I would be able to make it about 8 feet and the thing would lock up because there was so much grass... i've since hired someone until I can get a lawn mower. gmanpilot 0 #6 August 2, 2007 Reel mowers work best on low growing, creeping grasses like bermuda and zoysia. The are meant to keep the grass at about a half inch in height or so. Environmentally friendly and a great workout._________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.
