ntrprnr 0 #1 August 4, 2007 First pitch shot to the left field lower deck. A 3-run home run. It's now done. Congrats to him. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

TrophyHusband 0 #3 August 5, 2007 i hate the yankees, but have been a lifelong mariners fan. unlike many mariners fans, i am an a-rod fan. i enjoyed watching him play for seattle and hope he eventually wins a world series, just not for the yankees. i will gladly cheer him on when and if he takes the record from bonds. I'm glad, he did it. As for Bonds... I am sick and tired of hearing about him. He's all over the sports news constantly. I wonder if, they'll let him keep the record when he (and he will) breaks it, after it's proven he has taken 'enhancing drugs'? That all comes up in about 6-months. Maybe, they could just put an asterisk after his number.Chuck
BillyVance 35 #5 August 5, 2007 Quote First pitch shot to the left field lower deck. A 3-run home run. It's now done. Congrats to him. And he's the youngest ever to reach 500. Bonds was asked if anybody would beat A-Rod's record. His answer was "never". Remember A-Rod broke into the Majors at age 18, so he had a head start on everybody, pretty much. So falls the first milestone. There's two more to go - Tom Glavine's 300th win, and he will arguably be the last pitcher ever to win 300, now that most teams are going with a 5 man rotation, making it much tougher for pitchers to win even 20 games a year. Then there's Bonds' chase of Aaron's record. Regardless of the accusations and whatnot, I hope to watch the record breaking homer, just so I can say I've seen history made. Even then, if A-Rod hits at a 50 per year clip, he'll reach Aaron in 5 years at the age of 37, and Bonds is 43 now. Muenkel 0 #6 August 5, 2007 You know how I found out about this today? My friggin brother who is a Stankees fan was at the game and called as soon as the crowd quieted down. Good for A-Rod...excellent achievement. I still hate the Stankees though. Let's go Mets!!!! _________________________________________ Chris
