Came across an intresting site the one section listing the airports that were in around New York City is pretty intresting. They have done a lot of work colecting this informaition to the aviation past.

We had a small private airfield 15mins from me, a great little weekend Cessna DZ that had been running since the mid 80's a real club atmosphere
where everbody got stuck in an helped, great partys BBQ's an Paellas, Then the local government decided to include it in a restructuring plan
so the owner said f**k that, plowed up the runway an planted potatoes.

Hi I'm from the Government an I'm here to help:(

That first one had kind of a short runway

A couple years ago my buddy played a joke on me by sending me those links. Had me going nuts trying to figure out why I couldn't find them on the sectional charts. It never occurred to me to notice the map scale in the corner and compare it to the runway lengths.

For those of you in south Alabama/western Florida, here's the link to the airfields in Baldwin County, AL. When I was jumping at Emerald Coast, I was amazed at how many old airports there were that were used by the military during WWII.
