Flight Sims anyone?

Recommended Posts

ok...so I'm in need of a flight sim fix again...it's been awhile.
While the realism in CFS looks appealing, I think the availability of civilian aircraft plug-ins for Microsoft FS X looks more fun.
Any suggestions or ideas? Recomended hardware?
I'm looking for a decent yoke without spending too much also.

I get on well with the old Flight Unlimited series by Looking Glass Technologies. I still think 1 was the best as it was an aerobatic simulator but it was a DOS program. The next 2 were general aviation sims. You should be able to pick up Flight Unlimited III (the last one) for peanuts though. Plugins are a bit rare though. I've not tried anything by MS other than Flight Simulator 2000 and Combat Flight Simulator, FU3 is way better.

That looks pretty sweet. One disadvantage I can see - you have to buy the throttle quadrant to get the throttle/prop/flap controls you get with CH one. no reviews that I can find, yet.

Now you've got me looking at all this stuff again and trying to figure out how cheaply I can build a new machine....dammit!!!

Edit:

Don't forget the rudder pedals.... or the instruments!

I was not current after Fighter Anthology with the 714libs.

I too wonder what is out there that is now the equivalent of what FA with libs was in it's day.

Damn did we have great fun doing A2A A2G and 1vs1 2vs2 4vs4 and dissimilar air combat.

Lots of real fighter and bomber jocks were involved.
