ACMESkydiver 0 #1 August 9, 2007 I am redoing our house. All of it. I cannot stand this carpet any longer; hardwood flooring (or laminate, I don't give a sh*t any more) & I want it done NOW! However, I don't want to pay a bunch. I've looked at home Depot, Costco, and Ikea...any other thoughts on where I can get probably 1800 s.f. of wood or laminate that looks like wood for less money? Are there any warehouses or overstock places for that stuff?~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

Very inexpensive: Carpet Liquidators in Seattle has laminates starting at under $1 a square foot and you can get something decent looking for not much more. Still affordable but better: Lumber Liquidators

BillyVance 35 #5 August 9, 2007 There's a store called Home Emporium in Birmingham that keeps stuff thrown out by stores last year in favor of newer stock. Lots of cheap flooring. I don't know if it's a chain or solitary store. Sometimes Home Depot will have a sale on specific flooring. I got my laminated flooring, all 2500 sq ft of it for just barely over a dollar per sq ft. That specific brand was not being made anymore."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
tigra 0 #6 August 9, 2007 This might not work with your "right now" time frame, but at least twice a year, probably more, Costco has coupons for their laminate flooring which makes it even more affordable- like $5.00 off each box or something? We did our whole basement without the coupon and spent maybe $1500.00 on the materials. It looks nice and it wasn't that bad to install but I did end up bringing in some help. That coupon sale ended last month! Grrr....I know, I just couldn't convince hubby that it was important a few weeks ago. JohnMitchell 16 #9 August 9, 2007 Cheap flooring? Ceramic tile at about 60 cents a square foot, beige close out at Lowes. Vinyl self stick tiles are about a buck. Laminate? Around a buck for the cheap stuff. I need to find 600 square feet of engineered wood for around $2 a square foot. Any ideas? I do like tile. It's cheap, tough, and pretty easy to install. Self stick vinyl is super easy.
wmw999 2,593 #10 August 9, 2007 I got my engineered wood (Brazilian cherry, no less -- twice as hard as oak!) for about that price at a place called Tile Outlet here in Houston. That was a few years ago, though. If you check around, or even on Ebay, you might find it. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. idrankwhat 0 #12 August 9, 2007 This place has the best prices of anywhere I've seen. We used them for hardwood flooring, decking, and stair treads when we were building our house. http://www.lumberliquidators.com/home.jsp
Misternatural 0 #13 August 9, 2007 If you're set on wood, call local lumber mills that mill hardwoods, they can hook you up with dried flooring sometimes at wholesale. noice!Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires.
