I should be able to see it from my driveway. I'll try to remember to take pics. We have a video camera but I don't have any idea how to upload something to the internet.

We've got probably 3 more years of shuttle launches to catch before NASA mothballs the fleet. I've always wanted to see one too but never have managed to be in that area during one.

I saw a launch once and it was amazing. You could feel the sound before you could hear it. We had to get up in the middle of the night because it was a 6:00 a.m. launch, but it was worth every minute of lost sleep.

Most DZ's in central Florida would work. A few friends did a shuttle jump at Z-hills years ago and got the picture in freefall with the shuttle rising in the background. I was sooooo jealous!

Yup, and well having it launch on a weekday puts a stick in the wheel for me. Someone at Nasa needs to get the word out, only Friday - Monday windows please

Can people still jump there during lift-off with the 9/11 flight restrictions? I thought it was too close.

Isn't there any other dz's around that don't have that restriction where you could see it from?

I remember seeing a picture of someone under canopy with the shuttle in the background. Not idea how old it was though. It was in Parachutist after 9/11.

Yeah, you can, but they are farther away. That's why I was asking about Titusville because it is just down the road from KSC. It's pretty cool how far away you can be from it and still see it launch and still hear the sonic boom when it lands.

Here's the Shuttle view from my driveway. We watch it on tv and then run out and about 30 seconds later see it clear the treeline.
