PhreeZone 20 #4 August 13, 2007 The Ed usually means the detection is created in an Extra.dat that is outside the normal dat. The fact that its a generic detection means its picking something up on the behavior of it and not on the actual content of the file. I'd recommend sending the file to McAfee's online scanning program over at www.webimmune.net (it requires a free log in to send in the file, no name or anything just an email addy). Once you send it in it will be scanned with their latest bleeding edge dat files and all the major vendors files. If its able to be cleaned with the bleeding edge stuff they will send you an email with details as to how to clean it. If they need to adjust their detection for it to clean it with out any efforts on your part they will and will have it out the next day if not sooner to clean it off your system. If you have questions on any of this let me know.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
loco.cerveza 0 #5 August 13, 2007 First I would lose the Mcaffey, I have found that you pay more money then what you get in protection. I used the free version of AVG when I was still running windows on my computer, or if you really have to pay for an anti-virus program get the pro-version. If AVG did not clean it up I would see if you could use your system restore to see if that works, If you know your way around the computer files well enough you can go manually remove the file. If the virus is doing really bad things to you computer you may want to try and downloaded a program called Darik's Boot and Nuke, (http://dban.sourceforge.net/) it will do an NSA level reformat of your hard drive then you reinstall your OS. Something I feel the need to add I have switched to useing Ubuntu Linux on my computer and I am happy to report that I have not had any problems with ad-ware or spy-ware, or even virus on my computerRemember that expectant life span is an average, and most people are below average --Garrison Keillor
piisfish 140 #6 August 13, 2007 I would be tempted to say : Get a Mac, But I won't because of all the hostile response I got last time We Maccers might have viruses, but we don't know it. Guest #7 August 13, 2007 Macs *are* virus targets, though nowhere near as much as Wintel machines. However, that's no reason for complacency. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

D22369 0 #10 August 13, 2007 wow, your good do they come with glitchy software? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
BIGUN 1,483 #11 August 13, 2007 No. The Lexmark software isn't glitchy. The McAfee software is less than stellar. If you run HijackThis with Lexmark printers; you'll find a line something like: Application/Service9x Not disinfected E:\Drivers\Win_9X\lxcgsr9x.ex_ Your computer is fine. Well, let me re-phrase that - what McAfee found is a non-issue.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. PhreeZone 20 #13 August 13, 2007 Just curious, what Dat version are you running currently on the VirusScan side? If its older update, if its new and its a false positive its possible to get it removed as a detection if you don't want it to appear again. PM me and I can help you on that.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I've been hearing that for years, but I've been using my Mac now for four years and have yet to see a Mac virus. The worst virus I ever saw on an x86 box was the one that identifies its self as w-i-n-d-o-w-s."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
