The_Don 0 #1 August 15, 2007 Found a guys wallet Monday afternoon, 4 Visa, SS card, work ID, Drivers ID. + 83 dollars. Go home & check phone book, no luck. Call work & ask if he works there, yes. Leave my name & number. Get call at 6 am from wallet man. Agree to drop it off at his work at 9 am. I did. Dropped it off at the front desk. Never saw him, & no thank you call. Gotta love it!I am NOT being loud. I'm being enthusiastic!

sharimcm 0 #8 August 15, 2007 My sister lost her wallet at MGM in Vegas. She went to "lost and found" and a guy had turned it in with all the money still in it, her SS card, traveler's checks, etc. and his business card. She called him to thank him the second she got it back. There are some honest people in this world. Just be happy that you're one of them. ACMESkydiver 0 #9 August 15, 2007 Nice of you to do, regardless. He might be busy today trying to UNcancel all of those credit cards! skymama 37 #11 August 15, 2007 You did good. I'm wondering why he has his SS card in there though. Hasn't everyone learned that you're not supposed to carry it around because of identity theft? Jewels 0 #13 August 15, 2007 I once found a debit card someone had left in an ATM. They were listed in the phone book so I called them to arrange to return it because it was a Sunday and the bank wasn't open. They met me back at the ATM but were very clearly suspicious of me and only reluctantly thanked me for returning their card. I understand that you have to be cautious about identity theft and such, but c'mon--THEY were the one who left the card sticking out of the machine to begin with! wmw999 2,584 #15 August 15, 2007 I hate when that happens. Makes me jaded for awhile, and gets me to questioning what the right thing is. Except that I generally know what it is. But I still muse periodically about a recent incident with me. But I know what I'd want (and yes, thank for ) to have done, so I'd do the same thing again. But folks -- if someone does a favor for you, it's never too late for a heartfelt thank you. Even if it seems embarrassingly late, it's a whole lot less embarrassing than never saying thanks at all. I understand that you have to be cautious about identity theft and such, but c'mon--THEY were the one who left the card sticking out of the machine to begin with! I don't know how many ATMs out there have this safety feature, but if you leave your card in the machine and forget to retrieve it, the machine will automatically pull it in for safe-keeping and you would be able to get it back from the bank it was in front of. Of course, it's dependent on having nobody in line behind you waiting to do their transaction. Happened to my friend. I, on the other hand, had breakfast at a very busy restaurant and paid with my debit card. When it was returned to me, I didn't think to double check my name on the card, it was the same bank and same look and logo. Stopped to get gas on the way home and paid for that at the pump with the card I got. Next day went to my bank's ATM to withdraw cash, only to find out my password was wrong. Get the card out and look at it...D'oh! It was somebody else's! Went inside to talk to a rep. Found out that person had MY card. So the rep simply transferred the gas purchase amount back to their account. So, anytime you give your card to the waiter/waitress at a restaurant and you can't keep your eye on it the whole time, make sure you verify it's yours when they bring it back."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
