kootmando1979 0 #1 August 14, 2007 Up in Lost Prairie I had a bad landing that resulted in a partially torn MCL and a bad bone bruise on my tibia. The doctor said 3-4 months of no activity other than necessary walking. He is mainly worried about the bone bruise. Does anyone have any suggestions to speed up the healing process? It is driving me crazy not doing anything.

kootmando1979 0 #3 August 15, 2007 I am really going nuts already. I went out to the dz on Thursday night (fun jumps), Saturday and Sunday. I dont know what else to do with my weekends. Floating the Boise sounds like a good idea though. I will try and get a group together this weekend. I cant believe that I am going to have to sit out the rest of the summer. Everyone says its good because I will be ready for snowboarding, but I HATE winter.

In my experience, if it is not completely broke then healing is usually faster with mobility. I'm not sure if it has something to do with circulation to the injured area or "mind over matter" stuff. Providing you can restrict and protect the MCL, I would have thought you could do more than walking. e.g. Cycling. If your doctor knows you well then they probably have a good idea of what is best for you. But it is just the doctors opinion. BP
SpecialKaye 0 #6 August 15, 2007 ACL reconstruction was 6 months of recovery. Make sure you get your hamstrings and quads really healthy. Water exercise will give you the resistence without the load. Good luck and quick recovery. Kaye
kootmando1979 0 #7 August 15, 2007 Thank you everyone for the responses. I will try to start with swimming and then move on to cycling. I am just a bit frustrating.
karenmeal 0 #8 August 15, 2007 I would get a second opinion, it can never hurt to have another expert check things out. When I partially tore my MCL a few years ago and I was in PT for a while.
