they look like scotch bonnets to me

fire!!:o

edit: having clicked on the link above, they still look like scotch bonnets.
best for hot pepper sauce but you won't get the harvest from a plant or two, use them in a jerk marinade and don't forget to drink beer B|

but what do I know

Is there a difference between Scotch Bonnets and Habaero's? I always thought they were the same. Ditto on the jerk marinade!

Habaneros cultivated from scotch bonnets, so same species - same same but different

do a blind tsting and get back to us ;)

I tried a small sliver of the vein/rib thing that holds the seeds in a habanero once. Hot enough for me. I watched a guy at work eat a whole habanero once.

Scotch bonnets have the same heat, but they also have a very fruity flavor to go with all that heat.

I like both, but Scotch bonnets are my favorites!

I cultivate Red Savina Habaneros (550,000+ scoville units) and Caribbean Red Habaneros (400,000+ scoville units) for hot sauce.

If you like hot, these habanero varieties are more than 2x hotter than scotch bonnets. Scotch Bonnets weighing in at a mere 200,000 scoville units

If you want ridiculously hot, try a Bhut Jolokia. (over 1,000,000 scoville units)

To put all these numbers into perspective, the very hottest jalapeno's are only around 4000 to 6000 scoville units

So a neighbor gave me some pepper plants a few months ago. He called them Jamaican Fire ... I'm thinking they're habaneros or something close.

Probably a Jamaican Red Hot. Pretty hot at 150,000 scoville units.
Not as hot as the habanero varieties I mentioned earlier

I have some on the way from overseas; if they make it past customs, I'll let you know how they grow for me. ;)

Be careful with those babies if you get a crop. They are strong enough to blister sensitive skin. No shit :)
Naga Morich and/or Dorset Naga are a variety of those that are just as hot and maybe easier to get hold of

maybe beeing hot latin peppers we need some beer from outside and south of our border?

at the risk of hijacking my own thread...we need a nice beer to go with hot peppers! this is going to require some chicken on the grill I'm thinking...

Modelo?
Brahma?
Red Stripe?
Dragon Stout??

Good tip. I'm quite experienced with ultra-hot peppers though. Ask anyone who's eaten my hot wings. :o
