Pheromones spark new brain cells: Findings on choice of mate published in prestigious scientific journal

By Karen Thomas
Posted July 3, 2007

A scientific team in the Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the University of Calgary has discovered that female mice exposed to the pheromones of dominant males generate new brain cells. In a paper published online July 1 in the prestigious journal Nature Neuroscience, the senior author, Samuel Weiss, PhD, also finds that two areas of the brain, the seat of memory and the seat of smell, must work together to form memories of a female’s preferred partner.

For a bunch of smart people, why do they spend all this time proving the obvious? :)

I've been exposing them to pheromoans for years. Many felt like they had learned a lesson about men afterwards. :)

It helps with tension headaches. I am far more relaxed afterwards.

After being exposed to your partner's semen?

I can understand how that would be the first thought that came to your mind (given your orientation), however, I don't bat for that team.

Don't worry, I will always respect your right to choose.
