Vacation suggestions (inexpensive please)

Recommended Posts

A friend and I are trying to plan a vacation - Jan/Feb timeframe. However, neither of us have a ton of $$. We've tossed about the idea of going hiking (Grand Canyon) and Vegas. Other ideas?

Do you want to do cold weather stuff or warm weather stuff? I went to the GC during the Eloy Christmas boogie one year and it was freezing with snow on the ground, I was so surprised.

No matter where you decide to go, I bet there's someone on here who could offer you a place to crash. Dz.commer's are pretty cool that way. :)

Oh my gosh, I remember that boogie in Eloy. I thought the skin on my face was going to fall off while I was still walking around on the ground. Then, I began jumping with that open-faced helmet...argh! :D It was still good times.

Cora, let me know if you go to Vegas because I have a skydiver friend who lives in the area now, and she has asked me to visit her. Maybe she could meet up with you or offer help/advice?

Cora, look into a cruise, you can get a 3-5 day cruise for less than 400 if you shop around, and all you have to pay for on the ship is your booze. And if you need a good cabana boy for the cruise drop me a line, I don't take up much space and I'm a hard worker;)

if you want to hike into the canyon, better check what the permit rules are......I have tried 4 times to get permits from April to September and have been denied every time......[:/]

What about hiking Big Bend instead of the grand canyon? Its closer and that's the perfect time of year to go for the weather.

If you're interested, PM me as well as JohnRich. I've been a couple of times and have some tips and stuff to do, he's been a LOT. BeachBum has been quite a few times as well.

Well...I'd prefer "warm" as it'll be frickin' cold in Jan/Feb in Wisconsin. However, she'd prefer "cold" as she lives in Florida and rarely sees snow. So...I'm hoping we can find someplace that's a decent temp during the day and cold at night for her. :D

Will do. Thanks! :)

Shari - Of course! We'd love to have you join us. Umm....who will we have as contact for bail money? :)

Cocheese - Yep...I've been to Vegas for very cheap. Round trip airfare/hotel/food (Oct.) was less than $400.

Yeah, I was going to suggest Big Bend as well. Anytime up until mid-April or so it's nice; then it gets too hot. And it can be good and cold at night (frost on the tent in April when I went).
