Morrison79 0 #3 August 20, 2007 Are you trying to download an MP3 or a different type of file. Some of my music that I download won't play on my Ipod. It can happen if you download it for free.
mnealtx 0 #4 August 20, 2007 Doesn't the Ipod have a max for the bitrate? I thought I recalled reading something about that, but I'm not sure if that's the case or not...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
micduran 0 #5 August 20, 2007 I'd like to know if I can put my mp3 files on an external hard drive and still be able to sync. Is anyone doing this?Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.
Thanatos340 1 #6 August 20, 2007 I hope all of you realize that all this "Syncing" crap is because you have an iPod. If you have a Generic MP3 player or a Zen you can just drag and Drop Files. Soooooo much easier, more convenient and less hassle than being Forced into using that POS called iTunes. No "Library to maintain". Other nice little feature like being able to delete Songs off the devise directly, Copy files from the devise to a PC easily are so much better than the very limited iPod. And to answer your question Mic.. You usually have to be running iTunes to Symc with the iPod. Can you store your music on an external Drive?? Yes. Can you "Sync" to that drive?? Only if that drive is hooked to a Computer that is Running iTunes.

I'm running iTunes now, but I have successfully removed all references to it a couple of times in the past specifically so I could manage my iPod as a regular (auxiliary) drive. micduran 0 #8 August 20, 2007 I agree the drag and drop is way better. I kick myself frequently for switching to the iPod. My Rio forge was a lot easier.Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.

I can then drag them off of the ipod onto my macbook with ease. I just don't know what kind of setup you have that makes it so difficult. or maybe you just don't have ability to figure it out... Superman32 0 #12 August 21, 2007 Bumpdy Bump You can drag and drop both files and music into both the ipod and itunes. ***but BACK to the original subject**** For some reason, these files will to go on the ipod, despite running just fine on itunes. They are downloaded audio files - really exciting -about 40 hours of pathology. I'm driving to Fl in a couple of weeks and I need to be listening to that audio on my way down. So, pleaseee, hook a brotha up! Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches! Thanatos340 1 #13 August 21, 2007 What File types are they? MP3? OGG? M4p (Itunes purchased). I assume they are not WMA since iTunes will play them. Are they DRM Protected Files? (Did you buy them from somewhere online?)
Superman32 0 #14 August 21, 2007 The file type is "MPEG Layer 3 Audio" They are just audio files that get passed down from person to person. Not protected Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!
