Kris 0 #6 August 22, 2007 Quotelucky bastards that the gouge ended up not costing another 7 lives... The gouge was never life-threatening. They were worried about the repair time to the structure under that area if it got damaged by re-entry. The debate was whether it was worth the risk to fix vs how much time it would take to repair if they let it go, but it was never life-threatening damage. And, like the poster right above stated, the shuttle has come back in worse shape. It has even landed missing several tiles completely before.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
