mamajumps 0 #1 August 22, 2007 Life is once again getting in the way of me jumping and I just recently sold my recently acquired rig. This is getting so aggrevating, I havent really been in the grove for a few years now and I miss it so much, I don't have many friends around here that jump and I miss that too. I have only made 3 jumps this year and I have decided to put it on the back burner until I can stay current and jump as often as I would like. While I am not jumping is it weird to come hang out at the DZ after hours? Thanks for your input!
CSpenceFLY 1 #2 August 22, 2007 When I was broken I hung at the DZ all of the time.
mamajumps 0 #3 August 22, 2007 So I guess what Im asking is to go to a dz ive never been to, get to know the people, but ya know on hey, im not jumping right now, but I still wanna hang out with people I have something in common with kinda thing, so that when Im at a place in life where I can jump again, I already have friends... how goofy is that? JohnMitchell 16 #4 August 22, 2007 Does your new DZ have good rental gear for a resonable price? Our DZ has brand new Infinities, all different sizes and canopies, with AADs, of course, for rent, $10 a jump. If you can only jump a little, that can be a good way to go. mamajumps 0 #5 August 22, 2007 The dz that I am thinking about going too, does have rental rigs but not what I can afford along with jumps, repacks, and the coach jump I would need to get current. I would love it if I had that opportunity available to me.

normiss 898 #7 August 22, 2007 no offense...but with only 70 jumps in 4 years....are you really into jumping all that much or is it just to hang out with those that do? that just doesn't seem like much jumping overall to me. maybe renting a rig is the best...do a day rental as it's typically the cheapest, you don't pay for repacks the owner does, maybe even just a few hop n pops if you're really trying to save. is your dz someplace you can work as a packer on the weekends to pay for jumping? any friends with rigs that would let you use them instead of renting? if you're just looking to hang out at a dz and not be a regular jumper there, I would think it a bit odd...unless you have a boyfriend that jumps there. BillyVance 35 #8 August 22, 2007 Well, at 70 jumps in 4 years, it's not a good idea to be intermittent at that stage. It becomes less of a problem with a lot more experience and the ratings, but of course, stay away too long and you need some refresher jumps. But at her stage, it becomes time-consuming and expensive."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
marcandalysse 0 #9 August 22, 2007 I go to the DZ even when I am not jumping so I can hangout with cool folk like normiss "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
normiss 898 #10 August 22, 2007 yea but you always run off with your own clique at night anyway! 'cept on the rare occasion we make it to Ybor...which we should all do again sometime btw.

No offense taken.... I really do love to jump, but my ex got me into jumping and I was always left home with the kids. Now he is not in the picture, other than as a friend and a dad to the kids and I want to jump for me out of his shadow. The kids are getting older, and babysitters are easier to come by. I just don't want to fiddle fart around with it, if Im gonna jump, I wanna stay current and get good. its really discouraging to see people who have been in the sport as long as I have who have 10x the jumps I have along with instructor ratings and so on. I have had goals for myself for awhile as a skydiver. I still have the goals, but feel I can't safely pursue them until Im able to jump full time. In the mean time, I'd like to make some friends who understand this sport I love so much. Make sense?
