Windows on iMac w/Parallels

Recommended Posts

I just got a new 20" brushed aluminum iMac at work. Due to the fact that I need Windows to run tax preparation programs I bought a copy of XP Home and Parallels so that I can get rid of the old Toshiba laptop I have been using.

It took a while to sort out the file sharing and printing but I have to say I am thrilled with the result!!:)
I have to say that this machine is the best computer I've ever laid my hands on...beautiful display, fast, I like the new keyboard even though it has not been completely well received and having Windows on it for my limited needs is very nice.

I'll be using the Mac OS to surf the net, e-mail, etc. and I will not use the internet in Windows to do anything besides:

1 - Download program updates from Microsoft and the tax program sites
2 - File tax returns over the internet and
3 - Download drivers for printers, etc.

What would you Windows users suggest as minimum steps to take wrt installing anti-virus, setting up the firewall, etc?

Thanks,

Murray
