Zep 0 #1 August 24, 2007 Ok, I live in Spain. When Friends come over from England or other places they think it's really cheap here, ( in respect to prices in their respective countries) So I always ask them how many minutes they have to work to buy 4 liters of petrol/gas (4 liters is a US gallon) For a normal person the answer nearly always is the same, I have to work 12 minutes to buy 4 liters. So how long do you have to work. Gone fishing
BGill 0 #2 August 24, 2007 Currently it figures to about 8 minutes.

Is this what you're seeing? Over the last 5-6 years their has been a tremendous rise in new an second hand house prices, The market is now stagnant as the young people can't afford to buy. the governments answer is to do virtually nothing. The Subprime 2.5% mortgages have so many conditions attached that I think only about 3-4 percent of applicants are eligible. Gone fishing

He's asking for the relative cost of living as compared to the price of 1 gallon of fuel, i.e. how long do YOU need to work in order to buy a gallon. It's like a base indicator for a regions "cost of living expenses" He does not need to know either the cost of your fuel or your pay rate. merely mins/gallon (4 litres) Mine is 8.5mins per gallonYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! Gawain 0 #14 August 24, 2007 Energy commodities are too variable as a benchmark, and taxes warp the end price to the consumer. How much do you pay for a gallon of milk? How much do you pay for a standard 5-9 piece pack of gum? How much do you pay for a box of cereal? How much do you pay for a can of soup? How much do you pay for a ream of paper (A4 or 8.5x11)? How much do you pay for a box of paper clips? How much do you pay for a gallon of water? So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Zep 0 #15 August 25, 2007 As Squeek said. I couldn't care less how much you're gas cost or how much you earn. I had some English friends staying an it was their first time in Spain they were amazed at how low the prices are here. So we did a comparison with net earnings. It worked out that the cost of living is about equal. If I'd of used Jello shots instead of gas as a comparison I'm sure some people wouldn't of got all testy Gone fishing
