So.. in an effort to save money, coupled with an intense dislike for body hair and an equal loathing hatred towards shaving... i am currently waxing. Its kind of addictive, but extremely expensive to go and have it done.

so.. legs are done, underarms are done... and those werent too bad.. but good god i think i might pass out before i finish my bikini.

maybe next time i should just fork over the money to have it over and done with in about an hour-cause i'm taking forever!!

needless to say.. i'm bored in between waiting for the wax to harden. (and giving myself a break between yanks)

Get ready made cold wax strips, they are much easier than the wax you warm in your microwave and use directly.

It will get easier with practice.

Don't do too much at one time. Repeatedly waxing the same area, will make you sore. Very sore.

You can do it just as well as the people in the waxing salons. It's not rocket science.



Edited to add: no I don't think it's that painful. but a good, fast yank is recommended

i actually have a wax pot and use salon stuff, because that microwave stuff is crap. I get one strip of wax on and the rest of the pot is hard again. But I dont think i could do it with the cold stuff....

and i've got it down on the legs and underarms and stuff (amazingly, because the first time I ever waxed i swore i'd never do it again.. now i say the same thing about shaving)... but youch. my brazillian just wasnt going so well, even with the hard wax. (dont EVER wax your bikini with strips-i bruised myself SO bad one time-not even funny!) There's just too many difficult angles and places I cant see. and yeah.

I did 90% of it myself, but i have an appointment this afternoon to have someone else finish my torture. all that hard work, and i'm goin back for more

so glad my pain can cause you some amusement. I thought about the womans forum... but figured you guys need to know what us gals go through (although this is purely for my preference-not a mans)

anyhow... all that and I ended up having to fork over 50bucks anyways to have a professional finish it up (and get all the little wax bits i left behind)

if I ever do something stupid like shave again-or decide to wax myself.... oh man.

Talked my roomate in college into it too........"yeah dude, the chics love it". It was this stuff you heated up, put on, and when it hardened it was the consistancy of a wad of dried out silly putty....so you didn't have to use paper or cloth strips. Anyways....we're sitting there and he's asking me for tips right before he went in to the bathroom. "Make sure you cover everything, it's easier that way". So he did, all around his junk, up his butt crack, his stomach, and his thighs.................I'm waiting in the living room trying not to bust out laughing. All you heard was "1, 2, 3.....Rip.......AAAHHHHH!!!".........then some sighs, moving around, and some "holy shit" sounds. Two minutes later he walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist....."hey, this stuff doesn't come off does it?" All I could do was laugh. It took him about 3 hours to finish up. But his girlfriend did like the change.

I used to go get a brazilian done at a salon and the first expereince for me was the worst pain of my life! after routinely going it got better though, and I grew to love not having to shave and the upkeep was not bad at all.

But now my roommate is trying to convince me to do at home waxing with her, and I'm not sure about that. I probably couldn't handle doing it on my own.
