RkyMtnHigh 0 #1 September 2, 2007 Advil Cold and Sinus isn't OTC anymore. Apparently a law was passed here in GA where it can only be accessed through the Pharmacy because it was being used for making meth Is this just a Georgia thing? _________________________________________
cocheese 0 #2 September 2, 2007 I don't know, but a radio station here has a saying: Broadcasting from Flint, Mich where even the meth labs are outsourced.Apparently, we can't even make our own drugs here it's so bad.

No. Lots of states are doing it, and lots of retailers are doing it too even if there's no state reg.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! skydivelynn 1 #7 September 2, 2007 If it contains Pseudoephedrine as the decongestant, you just ask for it at the pharmacy. They'll probably take down your driver's license information (in NC they do). All of the oral decongestants sitting out on the shelves now seem to contain Phenylephrine instead. dunesurfer 0 #8 September 2, 2007 Most states I have been to recently it is an "ask for and show id" item. In OR, it is now perscription only...found that out on a visit there last fall.
lisamariewillbe 1 #9 September 2, 2007 Its still over the counter, you dont need a Rx for it. You just have to get it in small amount. RkyMtnHigh 0 #10 September 2, 2007 I went to Eckerds at 7am to get the Advil Cold and Sinus but the Pharmacy didn't open until Noon today (Sunday). On the shelf where it used to be over the counter are slips of paper to present to the Pharmacist, so I had to wait 5 hours for relief. It only came in a package of 16. Limited to one per customer. They asked for my ID and to sign a logbook. I asked if it was a State Law and they said it was Federal (yet each State is implementing it to varying degrees) and was put into effect approximately 8 months ago. They said it is an attempt to control the substance for potential abuse. If someone who's operating a meth lab wants ingredients, they will get it, even if it means the inconvenience of store hopping and signing a lot of logbooks. _________________________________________

It's been prescription only for a couple years on Oregon. Finally went and got some from the doc last year. Should be enough to last me through this year. RkyMtnHigh 0 #13 September 2, 2007 What I don't understand is how it is an ingredient of meth. Is it melted along with other products? It seems like it would take a large quantity to make anything I'm naiive when it comes to this stuff. When my car was stolen in Colorado about 5 years ago, it was recovered at a meth lab at a Ramada Inn and there was large containers of Bleach and Liquid Tide in the back cargo area. The investigators wouldn't let me take possession of my SUV until it was thoroughly cleaned because they said my vehicle was toxic due to the meth ingredients. After this Advil situation, I did some research online and didn't see those two things as part of ingredients for making meth therefore I'm a bit confused. _________________________________________
Muenkel 0 #14 September 2, 2007 It's law in Massachusetts. The worst part about it is they won't tell me how to turn the pseudoephedrine into Meth. _________________________________________ Chris

What the cops didn't realize was that your car was just so messy the meth dealers were in the process of cleaning it when they got busted, but the cops just assumed the dealers had made the mess."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Yes, the dealers implemented that rule because they've had a lot of problems with people buying meth to make cold medications."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. It seems like it would take a large quantity to make anything I'm naiive when it comes to this stuff. Some of the recipe ingredients are propane tanks and ammonia. I don't know how to make it, but there are a bunch of meth labs out here in Pierce County, WA where we live. It's been a real scourge. The waste products are toxic and the cooking process is dangerous, with deadly explosions and fires a real possibility. The crackdown on meth labs around here has not really cut into the consumption of the drug in our state, it has simply moved production down south to Mexico. I think I'd rather see people on heroin. Meth had destroyed a lot of families around here.
