dbattman 0 #1 August 18, 2007 OK- Dean is on it's way to a CAT 5. First responders being deployed to the TX coast. Louisiana decided it might be a good idea to actually have some kind of plan this time. We need a party somewhere! Maybe the Spaceland Fleet will be on it's way to another boogie somewhere as a Hurricane Refugee and we can catch a ride.
Unstable 9 #2 August 18, 2007 My GF's parents are in Houston and they are totally freaking out - emptying out their ATM machines, filling up every container with gasoline they can find, fighting old mexican lady's for flashlights at Walmart - Methinks they are overreacting (They are in the Edge of the cone) but methinks the coastal peeps need some serious planning... dbattman 0 #3 August 18, 2007 I'm on the A-team for Methodist IT (Disaster team vs. Recovery team but A-Team sounds so much cooler) so I'll probably be camped out at the Medical Center myself. (Note to self- remember fresh pint of scotch in overnight bag.) Wish I had my folks mail my hammock. The culvert crested just below 13 feet with the last storm (it floods at 13 ) so Dean will be interesting if it heads this way.

Beerlight 0 #5 August 19, 2007 Early estimates have Dean making landfall in Mexico, just south of Texas border. Your folks in Houston are probably safe. Now everyone down south of there.....not so much.
abelizegirl 0 #6 August 20, 2007 It is Sunday night here in San Pedro, Belize. All of the tourists have been evacuated............with or without their consent. Bathtubs are filled with water and the boats have been moved around to the back side of Ambergris Caye. We just finished a jam on the beach at BC'S. It was great. We played every hurricane and storm song we could think of, and then went on to "Shake it up Baby" for anyone in the earthquake area and "Twist and Shout" for all of you in tornado alley. All the restaurants are closed, bars are few and boarding up as we speak. There are about 3000 people left on the island now, The sky is clear and full of stars. Hard to believe that a few hundred miles away is a devil churning and broiling, a heartless beast that could run over us like a tractor over a turnip. It's all Jimmy Buffet's fault. AggieDave 6 #8 August 20, 2007 Yeah, if the other track that has the storm coming to center on central south TX then my vacation time might be cancelled with a rain check. Unfortunately Lord Slaton won't except my work rain checks for the CPC in Colorado. Actually there's a pretty good chance having seen past responses from the office (like when Rita was supposed to hit us direct, but then didn't), my normal days off will probably be canceled this week and everyone will be called in to work. Kind of nice, though, that's some serious OT. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Spatula 0 #9 August 20, 2007 She posted a bulletin on myspace late last week or this weekend. As of then she was fine. Went on a snorkling dive but came in early as waters were rough. If she posts any more I'll advise.
Beerlight 0 #10 August 20, 2007 Looks like it's changed course slightly and will probably make landfall between Cozumel and you! Stay safe....
popsjumper 2 #11 August 20, 2007 Probably not a good time for beach jumps into S. Padre? I heard there was plenty of milk and bread in Jamaica but all the rum was gone. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
