Law of Attraction

Recommended Posts

It's an example of "folk psychology." It is the kind of thing that is based upon unverified assumptions - yet, they are the assumptions that make us work.

People think, "Why did somebody do X? It must be from Y and Z." WE engage in it all the time - and are wrong as often as we are right. I read someone say that if this sort of thinking were eliminated, the consequences to society would be disastrous.

We often do things (or decide NOT to do things) because we think we are being nice. Others tend to disagree at times and may be annoyed by it. The "laws of attraction" are the same thing.

There IS no real "law" of attraction. It just is attraction. Personally, I find that to be what makes it so beautiful!:)

There are a lot of authors talking about the Law of Attraction such as Abraham-Hicks, John Gray, Michael Losier, and those in the "Secret" movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b1GKGWJbE8&mode=related&search=

Do you believe it?

I saw the film "The Secret." I want my two hours back.

It was one of the most pathetic, unfocused and incoherent films I've ever seen. They put no stress on the idea of "action." They only stress the "power of positive thinking." Basically, their point is -- think it and it will come. Bullshit. Thinking is the catalyst. ACTION and WORK are what will bring results.

Then all of the focus on cars, houses, and money. The film is a reflection on an ultra-materialistic society where convenience is god. How convenient it would be to just "think" and "get" as a result -- no work involved! Just sit on your couch and think about what you want and you'll be a millionaire -- how very convenient.

And how very out of touch with reality.

Watch it again -- I'm convinced you will see that 95% of that film is bullshit.

That said, there were a couple of things in the movie that I liked, such as the encouragement of an "attitude of gratitude." I think it's important to not take things for granted, and I liked their point about that.

Other than that, I thought it was a complete waste of time.

Disclaimer: please don't take my strong opinion on this film as an attack on you; I don't mean it that way. I just thought this film sucked the big one.

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Funny how the secret has been introduced to me time and time again through the past couple of years..

I feel yes, it has a good point. but, we all want the same things. how come we all don't have it.

Say for instance, if we all think positive there willl be no negative..
i think it's a balance,, one cannot exist without the other..

Now granted there is alot more nagative going on and we can all use some more positive. YES..

but we can't all be happy, rich, healthy, in love. etc
without being sick, poor, heart broken.

So in esence what we're gonna do is walk arond and pretend we're rich, not sick and not broken hearted when our significant other, took all we had, and now we're depressed beyond belief..

How would we grow as people thinking everything is beautiful, nothing is wrong.. happy happy joy joy.

The secret has such a pheonemal good point and it would be great if it worked for everyone,, but it's not gonna work the way we want all the time.

On a metaphysical level there is always yin and yang.

I think positive all the time, but things always go wrong, there is just no way around it.. There is no way these people walk around in a pink cloud all the time.

ok I'm off to check out there sight
Thanks Katee.

I agree. I think this stuff is a bunch of hooey too.

My thoughts is general, not to anyone specific...

Hard work, determination and sometimes sacrifice is the way to get things done. Whenever I have a problem, my dad's words of advice always come to mind which are, "figure it out." More often than not, I do.

Want to lose weight? Eat less and exercise more.
Want to get out of debt? Spend less and earn more.
Want to find a mate? Get out there and meet people, then ask someone out.

See a pattern here? There are solutions to just about everything. The problem is that most people are lazy and don't want to do what it takes to achieve their goals. So, they either have low standards or they don't make goals at all. Positive thinking is great, but as that comedy sketch in one of the links pointed out, you gotta do a little more than that.
She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man,
because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

I saw it. It was basicly the first couple chapters of "think and grow rich" turned into a movie. I wish they would have stressed the working aspect a little more. The thinking part is only a starting point.
