JustChuteMeNow 0 #26 September 5, 2007 Quote However, if you can not afford to take care of a pet properly, then you should not have it. I know there are situations where life changes. If that happens and you can no longer afford to take care of your pet, instead of abandoning it, there are no-kill shelters that will take the animal in and find it a home. Just dropping off your pet and leaving... Oh I totally agree that it is wrong to abandon any animal. My wife took in a cat this winter that when the owners moved they just left the cat. It was winter time in Iowa and the cat was totally used to being cared for and feed. This was wrong However, we took the cat and had it spayed and checked out at the vet. I am also willing to spend reasonable money on this cat's care regarding ongoing vet check-ups but there is no way in hell I would ever spend big money on this cat. I would humanely have it put to sleep. I have a daughter in college and I would rather spend my money on her.Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that. Kris 0 #27 September 5, 2007 In Dagny and I's menagerie, there are 5 carpet sharks (ferrets), two cats (one of which is Max, my goofball Maine Coon and brother from another species), Cooper the Destroyer (a Parrotlet), and Marly (our Bichon puppy). If anything happened to any of them, from the dog on down to one of the ferts, we'd take care of them, no matter the cost. They're our furry / feathered family. ladyskydiver 0 #29 September 5, 2007 QuoteDid you guys go through with the surgery? The owners put the $150 down and left their dog with us. We did the surgery, called them with the update to let them know how the surgery went, and told them when to pick up their dog. They never showed. They were called and "surprisingly" their phone was off. A voice mail was left for them "reminding" them that their dog needed to be picked up. They didn't show...so now we have their dog.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.
