You are being tested

Recommended Posts

My daughter was just giving me a hard time about being on this website too much (like she's not on MySpace a lot, but that's a whole other issue). My son said, "those forums are better than Google. If you want to know anything, just ask the people there, they'll know".

So she said, "ok, ask them how much a pregnant African elephant weighs". I have no idea why that is her question, of all questions, but that is your test. Someone please answer it and prove us right!

There's an old article out there from 2001, which was discussing a pregnant African elephant at the Oakland zoo. The article said, "The staff had no idea she was even pregnant. It's hard to notice a couple of hundred extra pounds on an animal that weighs as much as two Ford Explorers." Is that good enough?

Edited to fix clicky and to add that I posted this before the whole "seven months" thing came up--but I doubt that changes the answer any!

Oh, she's almost right . . .

However to truly motivate an accurate responce, you need to do it in the right way.

1) Make a thread.
2) Title it "Amazing Elephant Fact!"
3) Body of text should read; "Did you know that pregnant African elephant weighs exactly 20,000 pounds?!?"
4) Wait for first reply which should read, "My wife's uncle's cousin 3rd removed worked in the circus cleaning up elephant poo, so naturally that makes me a sort of expert on the subject. Don't you kow that they vary from 15,000 to 22,000 pounds?"
5) To which your reply should naturally be, "Oh I was talking about the African Forest Elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) not the African Bush Elephant (Loxodonta africana).
6) Wait for next response which will probably be, "Screw you for not asking the right thing then. BTW, I normally wouldn't waste my time on this crap, but I'm going to search Google for the next hour just so I can prove you're wrong.
7) Just wait another hour.
8) "Ok, it took me over an hour to search Google, but I found something on a hula dancing site called something like Wiki . . . anyway . . . crap . . . they weigh about the same thing."

She's not cheating on her homework, she just came up with a weird question for everyone. She didn't mean to offend you, she said that's how you two relate to each other. ;)

Nick...he's just proud of himself. :P
