bodypilot90 0 #1 September 5, 2007 I have some gear listed and I get a number of "send me the balance" if I send you a check. I decided to fight back, I agreed to sell the gear but needed the check fast. the person e mailed me me back saying he will next day air the check. Check arrives following day. The check has no watermark on the back, was a poorly done. Took the check to the bank it was drawn on. they checked it and it was counterfeit. So i did nothing about it, 2 days later i get a email and he ask where is money is. i didn't reply. He calls me wanting his money. I told him i wanted a good check, well I cost him $20 for next day air and cost him some time. any other ideas?

mamajumps 0 #8 September 5, 2007 Thats great, I wish I was "fast enough" to think of doing something like that... kudos.... I got so aggrevated when I was trying to sell my rig on here, I eventually did, but only after sending HH like 3 emails from 3 different user names
bodypilot90 0 #9 September 5, 2007 well it's about having a little fun instead of getting mad. The more time the idiots spend doing this the less time they have to rip others off. Just thinking about the guy rushing to make the check and paying the next day air bill makes it all worth it. It sucks to be them
GaryRay 0 #10 September 5, 2007 youi think if everyone who gets the scam email on this website did something like that every time, that these idiots would stop?JewBag. www.jewbag.wordpress.com
PhreeZone 20 #11 September 5, 2007 Hell no, there are still a lot of people that cash it and send them the money as their refund. Even if they have 99 people mess with them all it would take is that 1 person to make it worth their time and make them a profit. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

piratemike 0 #14 September 5, 2007 Quote true, but people should be smarter than that now-a-days, especially if you use the inet quite often and are under 35 As it turns out, there is no way for the masses to learn about this kind of thing short of being screwed. Have you ever heard of a high school class that tries to tell kids about scams like this, and most parents don't know enough to voice a warning about it. People are inherently trusting of people that see to be in the know, and villains take advantage of that.
danornan 79 #15 September 6, 2007 Happened to me, selling a bike last year. I'm sitting on several $10,000+ bad checks. You don't have to go to the bank, just give them a call and they can tell you over the phone, most of the time if the check is good.Dano
monkycndo 0 #16 September 6, 2007 I received a bunch of scammer replies to my ad. Did my best to get some fake checks. Even received the same tracking # from three supposedly different people. I jacked up the "final price" on my "item", gave funny reasons of why I was selling it. At least I wasted some of their time while it was entertaining for me.50 donations so far. Give it a try.
