skymama 37 #2 September 6, 2007 What do you want to change? Furniture, accessories, the walls? The first thing I recommdend is paint the walls a new color. That makes the biggest change and is the cheapest thing you can do. Most of the paint manufacturer sites have areas where you can play with color in a fake room to see how it would look. Buy quart sizes at first to make sure you like the color and look at it at different times during the day because the sunlight will change the hue. The last time I painted a room, I finally settled on my third color choice so it is worth it to practice first. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
woodpecker 0 #3 September 6, 2007 Thanks for the painting advice. Never thought of the different times of days. Also looking for furniture placement (possibly new) and how to incorporate all of my crap/or what to put into each room without too little, or too much.SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? PhreeZone 20 #4 September 6, 2007 Go hit up your local colleg that has an Interior Decorating program and offer your space up as a class project. Some schools allow students to do projects like this a part of their assignments and it counts towards their credits. You'll have to pay the budget for the supplies, but you'll get to have a lot of creative input on it that you wouldn't have thought of otherwise for free.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Slappie 9 #5 September 6, 2007 Quote Also looking for furniture placement (possibly new) and how to incorporate all of my crap/or what to put into each room without too little, or too much. I was reading Business2.0 and remembered an article about just this thing. There is a nifty little website out now called www.floorplanner.com that does all the placements for you. I've not personally used it yet, so I'm not 100% sure how it's used. I have it bookmarked for when I close on my townhouse I can play with the placement of my stuff in the den, living room and office. Let me know what'cha think about the site. Hope it helps some. skymama 37 #6 September 6, 2007 Well, it's kind of hard without knowing your floor plan or furniture. But, you can download furniture templetes online. Just measure your rooms and draw it out on paper. Then, find the size of your furniture on the templetes, cut them out and play with it a little. It's kind of fun, actually. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

ltdiver 3 #9 September 6, 2007 Quote Go hit up your local colleg that has an Interior Decorating program and offer your space up as a class project. That's a great idea! I had a friend offer to do this for my home. She was an interior decorator at heart. I liked it so much it's still arranged her way. Another suggestion (for decorating ideas) is to go through some model homes. I did that when a higher-end community was being built here in town. The sales woman got a bit peeved when she asked if she could sign me up for one of the floor plans and I told her I was just there, browsing, for decorating ideas. "Well!", she said in a huff, "You're seeing the best in the business!". I thanked her and walked on. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
