The 3 tenors are no more. http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/06/pavarotti.dead/?iref=mpstoryview ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Kris 0 #8 September 6, 2007 I always thought that his performances of Nessun Dorma and Ave Maria were the best of the best compared to any other singer. RIP, Maestro. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Jewels 0 #10 September 6, 2007 I was able to hear him at a live performance a few years ago and had no idea that it was my last chance. I don't think he has been back to Denver since. I'm so glad I was able to hear that voice for myself and not just through a recording.TPM Sister #

Zep 0 #13 September 6, 2007 QuoteThe guy was a jerk. Thats what I thought untill my wife persuaded me to go to the Liceu (Barcelona) singing together were Luciano, Placido an Monseratt I had a great night. Although it didn't make me a fan of there music it made me appreciate what fantastic voices they had/have. Gone fishing
diablopilot 2 #14 September 6, 2007 Because he sang well doesn't change the fact he was a criminal, cheater, and abusive to his wife.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

MrFreefall383 0 #16 September 6, 2007 It's the sad end of an era. That's the kind of voice that could give anyone goosebumps. What an incredible talent."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
tbrown 26 #17 September 7, 2007 QuoteBecause he sang well doesn't change the fact he was a criminal, cheater, and abusive to his wife. No it doesn't, but consider this. If we were to judge the works of any artist by the moral content of their life, there would be very little art, music, drama, or literature of any great worth. Shakespeare, Beethoven, van Gogh, Tchaikovsky, Picasso, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Jackson Pollack, Sinatra, Dali, Jerry Garcia. All a bunch of assholes. But where would we be without the lift their work has given our lives ? Personally, I was always miffed at him for being a no-show at a free Opera in the Park performance in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco back in the eighties. The wife and I were all set to see him on this lovely Sunday and the guy skipped town. A lot of opera halls stopped booking him for that reason. But it doesn't change the fact that the man was one of the greatest tenors of the twentieth century. I've never heard a voice like his in MY lifetime. So he was an asshole. Show me an artist, or a politician, who isn't. At least the artists make a meaningful contribution. I will miss him. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
