Beerlight 0 #1 September 10, 2007 I've tried for years to get them into on-line bill pay and also having their pay automatically deposited. Who doesn't have automatic deposit these days?! I understand them being leary of bill pay, but damn.... Gotta luv em........
skymama 37 #2 September 10, 2007 I don't have automatic deposit. My office doesn't offer it. I'm in charge of payroll. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

For some reason I wish they could take advantage of new ops offered to them. My mom said she likes to cash her check and "see" the money......... skymama 37 #4 September 10, 2007 I just don't offer it because we have a small payroll, it costs the company money to do it and the bank is in the parking lot on the way out of the office. If we didn't have that convenience factor, I'd reconsider. I do use online bill pay and love it. Is your mom still writing checks in stores? If she is, you have to stop her from doing that! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Beerlight 0 #5 September 10, 2007 Yes! she still writes checks I explained all about a debit card but she'll "have nothing to do with that"! I gave her a computer years ago (a desktop), she used it for a week then said she didn't like it. Then last week she orders a $1200 laptop so she can "surf the web"! I said mom, is that all you want to do, she says yes. I didn't have the heart to tell her a $300 computer would do that.........
guppie01 0 #6 September 10, 2007 Hell, feel lucky she writes checks.... my dad will only deal in cash! Refuses ATM, debit / credit cards, and checks. LOL However for my birthday he'll send me a certified check, via certified mail. g "Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" peregrinerose 0 #7 September 10, 2007 Aren't you being just as hardheaded thinking your way is right/better? As long as they are happy and their current financial system works, why should it matter to you? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

But, I'm the one that sent them $8K last year to keep their house from being foreclosed on cause they couldn't "keep it straight"...... I would think if they could check their finances "instantly" at anytime, it may help them....and help them miss payments on things.......

I prefer it, its just one less thing that I have to worry with. And the one time in a year that my check was wrong, I had a difference check within hours of me making the payroll dept aware of it.....

When you get bogus charges (as I have) on a credit card, you argue with the company about whether you will pay it. When you get bogus charges on a debit card, you argue with the company about whether they will give your money back. sharimcm 0 #13 September 10, 2007 I pay all my bills on-line and have direct deposit at my job. I wouldn't have it any other way. My parents on the other hand... My mother writes checks at stores and for bills while my dad used their debit card for EVERYTHING. On top of all of that, my mother balances their checkbook from the internet banking site. It's OK for her to LOOK at their account on the internet, but not to use it for anything else? I don't understand people sometimes. JENNR8R 0 #14 September 10, 2007 I don't use Billpay for my personal checks because my bank (and most other banks that I have used in my work) take the money immediately from my account. If the check is never presented, the payee does not have the benefit of the funds, and neither do I. The bank wins on that one. I only know of one bank that waits to take the funds out until the check is presented. I don't use that bank, so no thanks. I'd rather have my money earning interest for me until the check is presented. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday. JENNR8R 0 #16 September 10, 2007 I thought the money from checks written are now immediately deducted from your account? ie., no more "floating" of checks....... It has to wait until the checks are presented. If I wrote a $1,000 check to my son on Billpay, he loses it, and forgets to tell me, both of us are out the $1,000. I never know since my son hasn't told me, and it came out of my account immediately. The bank keeps it, and they never bother to tell me that the check has never been presented. If I mail a check to the electric company, the funds are electronically transferred, after they receive the check in the mail. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday.
