BillyVance 35 #1 September 19, 2007 I knew it was bound to happen. My little girl was going to break something. Well it finally happened. She has had an affinity for the VCR's tape slot with the little door that swings inward. Every time I caught her playing with it, I'd say stop that. Fat lot of good that did. I was doing some laundry while she was playing with her toys in one corner of the living room. I just happened to notice something in the VCR. She had jammed not one, but TWO remote controls into the video tape slot! I put a tape in there to check it out. It kept spitting the tape out. Well, that's that. Over 10 years of service, killed by a 17 month old. Oooooh Danny boy..... How much are VCRs now? $50?? Not that we would really need one, but I wouldn't want the extensive VHS library to go to waste."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
BIGUN 1,488 #2 September 19, 2007 The last time I saw a VHS/DVD combio player in a wally-world, I "believe" they were running about 75 bucks.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
popsjumper 2 #3 September 19, 2007 I can relate to that. Our VCR went haywire...push one button and something else happens. Took it apart and found $1.27 in change sliding around on the circuit boards. Kids will be kids. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. normiss 898 #6 September 19, 2007 weren't VCR's used for 8-track tapes or something?? who the hell still has a VCR???? I'll bet it was BetaMax too....
BillyVance 35 #7 September 19, 2007 Quote weren't VCR's used for 8-track tapes or something?? who the hell still has a VCR???? I'll bet it was BetaMax too.... It was a standard VHS recorder/player. About the only thing we used it for the past 2 years was to see what time it was, as it had a time display. Since we have a big VHS tape library, we'll just get a player for the TV in the big bedroom which is up on a shelf where the girl can't reach. I'm thinking more along the lines of getting a DVD recorder/player, or is that obsolete too? mamajumps 0 #8 September 19, 2007 yeah good luck on finding just a VCR, those are so yesterday. But yeah the combos, depending on the where you live run anywhere from $50.00 to $75.00. I bought my mom a durabrand vcr/dvd combo for Christmas from wally-world for $50.00 something last Christmas...

BillyVance 35 #13 September 19, 2007 Quote Or cable! I love my cable company. Gives me 60+ channels (more than I need anyway) for $32 a month. I've never been much of a tech freak. I don't care to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on the newest and latest technology when I know the price is going to drop a couple of years later. Okay so I'm way behind the times. We just don't have the need to record our favorite programs if we can't watch when it airs. If we miss it, so what. I still have an older TV that works fine, and it only has the cable outlet, nothing else. When it conks out, we'll get a new one for 15% the cost of what that TV cost.
