Question for mechanic types - aftermarket cruise control

Recommended Posts

So I have a Ford Focus ZX3 2000. I want to put in cruise control due to waaaaaayyyyy too many speeding tickets this year.

I've googled my heart out trying to figure out what to get and how to get it installed and my head hurts. :(

Come someone break it down for me simply and tell me what to buy?

IF the Focus has a VERY DETAILED user forum on line somewhere...maybe, otherwise what Jay said.
;)
I installed one in my Scion box...it was VERY easy...so long as you find the right wires and are fairly mechanically inclined anyway...

edited cause I'm a knucklehead...:D

Oh no, I'm fix-it inclined, but not THAT inclined! :P

I was thinking of buying the kit and having my local shop install it for me... it's just confusing what kit(s) to buy.

shat on Jay's what? Is that British or sumthin?

Not intending to sound jerky,
but if you are saying that you do not have the ability to slow down or monitor your own speed, and you want a computer chip to take over that rather important responsibility for you, perhaps you shouldn't be driving at all.

Just a little food for thought. ;)

Of course I'm not capable! I like to go fast, and as fast as the roads allow!

Not my fault I live in the south where +3 miles over the speed limits gets ya a ticket!

It's also for a quite a few work-related cross-state trips I'm going to have to do this coming year. it does save on gas on I-95.

You just abrogated all responsibility for controlling the speed of your car :)
My son is exactly the same way.

Funny thing is, like yourself and my son, I also like to drive fast.
I frequently drive just as fast as he does when conditions allow.

He gets speeding tickets and I don't.

Its not because I'm lucky and he isn't, and I don't have a radar detector
either. :)
Just out of curiosity, are you saying that your speeding tickets are for going a mere 3 mph over the limit, or were you actually exceeding the limit substantially more? :D

Not that you care, but hat almost earned you a point in my book.

The "not to be a jerk" took it away though. :P

So you are saying that I was on the right jerky track until I ruined everything by claiming that I wasn't trying to be jerky?

If so I should point out that if I came across as jerky while making a deliberate effort to NOT sound jerky, then my jerkiness is genuine and should still earn me full value.
