NEW PIA Rigger's Forum!

Recommended Posts

A new version of the PIA Rigger's Forum is scheduled to go live tonight, June 14th, at 7:00pm EST U.S.A.!B|B|B| (barring unforseen delays:S)

This forum is intended for the exchange of information between riggers. Rigger's from around the world are encouraged to participate. I also hope manufacturer's will register 'official' representatives for the forum. Please go to www.pia.com and
look under the PIA Data drop down menu. edit: direct link is PIA Rigger Forum

Pre-approval for posting privileges IS required. Please click on register in the forum. You will get an email to confirm your registration and will get an email when your registration is approved.

EVERYONE is welcome to come and read the threads. In addition, forum non-members may submit questions to rigmoderator@pia.com. If of general interest to the rigging community they will be posted in the appropriate forum. Questions like 'Is this a good price?' or 'What should I buy?' are NOT appropriate for the PIA forum and are better answered here.;) Questions like 'What does FAR 65.### mean?' may be appropriate for the PIA forum.
PLEASE read the welcome message for the rules of the forum. Pre-approval of individual posts is NOT required but the forums will be moderated. When necessary, please agree to disagree. Individual attacks against people or manufacturer's will not be tolerated. Comparisons between equipment and personal opinions are relevant. Riggerrob and I will be moderating for now.

Suggestions for improvements are encouraged, but may be ignored.:P

Thanks to Rob for volunteering to help moderate.

Terry Urban (councilman24) and I talked about this during PIA - trying to generate more participation in the PIA Riggers Forum. To that end, here are my requests:

-If you are a Rigger, and you are not a member of the PIA Riggers Forum, please register so you can contribute to the discussions there.
-If you are not a Rigger, but you you frequent the dropzone.com G&R Forum to devour the technical info . . . please frequent the PIA Riggers Forum as well (non-Riggers/non-members are welcome to read all of the posts there).
-If you are participating in both forums, please cross-pollinate any good discussions on major issues (e.g. the RSL removal thread) by posting a link to the other forum.

Bear in mind that a large percentage of gear manufacturers read these forums, but only some of them actually post here. I don't have a good feel for that dynamic in the PIA Riggers Forum, but since the manufacturers make up the lions share of PIA membership, I would say they likely read those regularly as well.

There needs to be a place for strictly technical and regulatory discussions among rigging professionals. The PIA Riggers Forum was designed with that in mind.
