skybytch 273 #1 September 28, 2004 Got the call I was dreading this morning. From my landlord (who is, btw, the coolest person ever). As I was expecting, my little cottage by the river wasn't Jeanne-proof. He's in there pulling what's left out today... I have five Rubbermaid containers with dry stuff and everything else is... well... all wet. No report on what's left at the dz/gear store. Not expecting good news there either... I think somebody's trying to tell me something. I think I'm gonna listen. I fly back to FL from northern California in a couple hours. I'll see what's left when/if they let me back in. And then I'm going to pack my five dry containers, my dog and myself into my car (assuming of course that it made it through Jeanne in the longterm parking at Orlando a/p) and drive our asses HOME. Biggest bummer is I think I left my lappie in it's case on the floor of the bedroom. Doh. The good things? My dog is fine. I'm okay. The rest of it is just stuff. Have to laugh. It hurts less than crying.
wmw999 2,584 #2 September 28, 2004 Lisa, that sucks. People talk all the time about "a door never closes without another one opening" but sometimes that's bullshit. I hope that wherever you end up, you can look back on a rich year of experiences. You got to own a business, meet a bunch of wonderful new people, and feel the freedom of cutting away. No, it didn't all work but no one can ever take the experiences from you. And if you come through Houston, holler. Dagny 0 #23 September 29, 2004 Lisa, damn. I hadn't heard how anyone fared after Jeanne in Sebastian and I am really really sorry to hear that the storm tore your place up. I completely understand that you want to get back home. Not a real good welcome from FL, but DAMN. Sebastian isn't going to be the same for me without you there. You were the second dz.commer I ever met and totally supported me through my AFF and beyond and I am going miss the hell outta you if you go. I am free this weekend. It's one of the few that I have a little spare time. If you're in town, I'll drive up to Sebastian and give you a hand with your place. Or buy you a beer. Or both. Seriously, let me know if you'll be in town and I'll make the drive over there.
