happythoughts 0 #1 October 2, 2007 Another meeting for the Society of the Blatantly Obvious was held. Here are some of the highlights. clicky QuotePolice mocked for 'obvious' signs A police service has been criticised for using blindingly obvious messages in its campaign posters. "Don't Commit Crime" is stated on one of Hertfordshire Constabulary's posters - "All fuel must be paid for" has been added on posters at petrol stations. The US equivalent was the "Just say no to drugs" campaign. "I tried that... but they wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. I'm a light drug user, so I'm just saying 'maybe' today." FBI clicky QuoteThe FBI may turn to a new ploy to combat bank robberies: a dress code. Special Agent Larry Carr plans to work with Washington state lawmakers on legislation that would forbid banks from doing business with customers who wear hats and sunglasses while inside the bank. The Fashion Board of Investigation is promoting the idea that you can't wear hooded shirts, sunglasses, or caps in a bank. Personally, I'd have added guns to that list. Maybe, "Sorry - no guns permitted in bank" ...or "No bank robbery allowed" or putting "No parking signs" out in front so that the getaway cars couldn't pause there. "I'll wait for you here with the motor running... oh, wait... no parking here... I'll pull around the block." QuoteDarcy Donahoe-Wilmot, a spokeswoman for Washington Mutual, said it has always been up to tellers to decide whether to ask customers to remove their hats and sunglasses. I'll bet that was followed by, "We usually don't make requests of the customers who are pointing the f-in' guns at us. At the request of the pointy-heads at the FBI, we just try to inconvenience everyone else."
popsjumper 2 #2 October 2, 2007 True story: We intalled outdoor telephone equipment cabinets. One of the idiot local boys pissed on the rectifier inside and shorted it out. His company complained that there were no warnings against this. WE had to put warning labels inside the cabinets saying, "DO NOT URINATE ON RECTIFIER" in big, bold lettering. Bell South was always such a pain in the ass.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. And yeah, now and then I'll be a *%&$# and walk into one of my previous bank branches with my hood up and sunglasses on. Scares the hell out of them..."Wha...JAYE!" "You know better than that!" Tee-hee! "-But I have a cold and a headache...what am I to do?" ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
