shropshire 0 #1 June 8, 2006 I cann't reach it (short arms) and it's constant flapping is bugging me. Should I ask my rigger to put on shorter risers? If so, how will this affect the canopy handling (if at all)? Ta, (.)Y(.) I got 14 in total. My search string was "shorter risers" Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

yardhippie 0 #5 June 8, 2006 hey look. a whole bunch of search results. Im not gonna read through them all before asking this. Do you have some type of slider stop? I know my slider stops just above my toggles and front dive loops. Do you have standard or 'mini' risers? if you have standard and switch to mini, then maybe your slider will come down far enough. good luck.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #

If so, how will this affect the canopy handling (if at all)? Ta, hey the general consensus is that you should have the longest risers that make it so you can reach the slider. I myself fly 24" risers I have flown: 18's which resulted in a faster turn, you get out from under your canopy faster, and has a shorter recovery arc. 20's a little slower on the turn stil dives quickly and has a medium recovery arc. 24's have to wail on it to get out from under the canopy and a long recovery arc. basically the risers put you further or closer away from your canopy changing the radius of the turns that you do. so if you are further away, the circumference is larger so the turn is a wider turn... closer the circumference is tighter.... (a simple look at it there is mroe to all this) Cheers Davehttp://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. OR Make sure there is no parachutes around/near or below you, then pull one riser down and grab slider with the other hand. Some dream of flying, i live the dream...
