ladyskydiver 0 #1 October 12, 2007 Ok...so I'm trying to arrange to get to Texas and cause some mayhem for a couple nights, but the flights are ridiculously priced!!! So...which is the cheapest airport to go to or heck...cheapest airline? FYI - I'll be hanging out in Austin when I finally get there.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! NWFlyer 2 #2 October 12, 2007 Southwest. You have to book on their web site - they're not going to show up on any of the other booking sites."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. ACMESkydiver 0 #3 October 12, 2007 Check out flights into College Station. When I went years ago, it was cheaper than Dallas (even though you actually LAND in Dallas, and switch planes to a rickety ol' puddle jumper, then fly to College Station). Come to think of it, just book your ticket to College Station, pack in a carry on and get off in Dallas if that's closer to wear you fancy spending your weekend. -Or keep going to College Station and say 'Hi' to the Aggies. They're fun people, too. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
Shotgun 1 #4 October 12, 2007 I often use Yahoo Travel when flying (and I go to Austin a lot). The "+/- 1 to 3 days" option is useful for finding a cheap ticket, unless your dates are not flexible. They also have an option to compare surrounding airports, but I doubt that any of the others would be cheaper than just flying directly into Austin. (And the Austin airport is so cool that you wouldn't want to miss it anyway. Mmm, especially the Salt Lick BBQ.) I think Southwest is the only airline not included in their search, so I'll usually check directly on their website. But their ticket prices are really high unless you book at least 21 days in advance (in which case they're sometimes the cheapest).
