"Token of gratitude" ... cheesy?

Recommended Posts

"Please accept _______ as a token of my gratitude."

Is that cheesy for a thank you card? I'm thanking someone for some things she gave to me, and also got a small gift to give to her in return too, to show my appreciation. We're more acquaintances than friends, atm.

It sounds fine but I find it a little "stuffy".

Why not just say Thanks so much! It's appreciated! and leave it at that. Give it to her along with the little gift. No need to say you're "giving" her something in return. She'll figure it out when she opens it up!

Whatever you decide, it's really sweet that you're thanking her. Too many people don't do that nowadays!

My first reaction was the same as Shell's...I agree with her on all counts, especially the last one. A lot of people don't seem to make the effort, so it's great that you are.

Which reminds me, I have some thank you notes to write!!:$

I'd use that in a business correspondence, personally. :)
I like to show 'me' in personal cards/gifts...then again, I show 'me' in my business correspondence, too, if I've already met face to face with the person.

Hmm, either way is perfectly all right. suck at giving advice. :S:ph34r:

Yeah, I was concerned it was too stuffy/business-y too. We're probably close enough that I could have gone more personal, but oh well, I already sealed it up so that'll just have to do.

I agree that people don't show enough gratitude nowdays. I used to be really bad about sending out thank yous. Then one time I quickly and grudgingly wrote one out at the insistence of my mom (I was a teenager at the time - I was busy, I had "better" things to do, etc.), then later heard how much it really meant to this person (who was actually a pretty special person to me). It changed my outlook. Hearing "thanks, you're appreciated" really can make someone's day. So now when someone has shown me some kindness or touched me in some way, it's important to me that they know what their kindness or generosity means to me. :)

Well, like lawrocket said guys are ok with a thanks.

and like shell said not many people do stuff like that anymore.

So, give her the cheesy card and write something a little more personable in there.

Like Hey, sorry for the cheesy card but I couldnt find one that i liked. but thank you for your kindness/generousity/oral pleasure.

whatever fits.

I hate cards because they are written by someone else. a folded piece of paper with your thoughts on it would mean more to me...even if it's in crayon

I really should have seen that one coming. B|:P

Actually, when it's oral sex, the girl usually DOESN'T see the coming. Therein lies the problem, I've been told. B|:ph34r::D

Any thanks will do! Especially in this day and age. While it's easy to whip off an email to say "thanks", actually SENDING a card is that much more special!

Dropped the card and gift off today! Hopefully it brightened her day when she got it! She's definitely brightened several of my days lately!

Seriously though, whether it's a card, a phone call, or regular face to face interaction, I'm just a big dork. I'm always either too personal or too stuffy/business-y. Luckily my friends know this and love me anyway. It's those that don't know me well that I feel sorry for. :S:):D

My boss gave me a card last year after our team finished a big milestone in our project.

It was real sweet, and at one point it said "...and for the objectionable way in which you view all things". This was a purchased card...straight from some smart card writer somewhere (not hallmark tho).

I looked up "objectionable" recently as something wasn't sitting right.

(from dictionary.com):
ob·jec·tion·a·ble /əbˈuhb-jek-shuh-nuh-buhl
–adjective
1. causing or tending to cause an objection, disapproval, or protest.
2. offending good taste, manners, etiquette, propriety, etc.; offensive: objectionable behavior.

Well we all got a good laugh out of it...I knew what she meant, of course, the word "objectively".

Its still on my office wall...

Nah, it's not advisable to re-gift that sort of thing, right jt? :P:ph34r:

I am getting the drift that this "gift" is an adult toy??? I didnt see that or exactly what kind of gift it was anywhere in this thread..... :$

NO. I've just been a child throughout this whole thread.
She didn't say what the gift was.
