Johnsisland 0 #3 October 12, 2007 My headache was non-existent! Well, as long as I was laying down. I can't remember where it was at, but it did hurt-if I wasn't flat on my back. Wouldn't go away, after several days (been a while, can't remember) the Dr. hauled me back in, drew some blood and stuck the blood where the needle made a hole in my spinal column, thus creating a scab and solving the problem. Again, it's been a while, but if your headache continutes, you might speak with your Dr.. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/spinal-headaches/DS00643 Hope your head stops aching soon! JArch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
kbordson 8 #4 October 12, 2007 Spinal Headaches do suck. Luckily after my lumbar puncture - I didn't get one. If it gets bad - CALL YOUR DOCTOR (they can do something called a blood patch) For a mild one - it might last 48-72hrs. Caffeine helps, lying down really helps

SBS 0 #10 October 12, 2007 These descriptions sound exactly like what I'm going through. Thanks for the help! Johnsisland 0 #11 October 12, 2007 You are welcome. But I see a Real Live Dr. chimed in with what I would guess is an unoffical opinion. Listen to the Doc. I am not one, and didn't even stay at some motel last night. J Don't suffer to long before you call your Dr.! Arch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground. ladydyver 0 #12 October 12, 2007 I got a post LP headache and they do suck. laying down and caffeine are the two best home remedies. Typically - at least in our area - they won't do a blood patch for 48 hours after the LP. The blood patch immediately took my post LP headache away.....though.DPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! ladydyver 0 #13 October 12, 2007 Quote LMFAO!!!!!! (Don't get me wrong - the headache has to suck royal ass-) I equated it to feeling like my head was going to "pop-off"....it was actually worse than the initial headache that I was in the ER for.DPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! AnKaLi 0 #15 October 12, 2007 I had the spinal tap because of a headache, so I don't know about the headache afterwards!!! Its pretty painful though, it still hurt after 2 shots of morphine edit: but apparently you know about that already!

LisaM 0 #17 October 12, 2007 I had myne just a couple of months ago. My head hurt anytime I went vertical for the rest of that day and all of the next day. That day was the worst; I went to my son's football practice anyway and then ended up curled up on the grass. The next day it would not hurt right away but after a few minutes of being vertical. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?
SBS 0 #18 October 13, 2007 I had a blood patch today. I'm still nauseous, but don't have the headache like I did. I seem to have had the same situation that someone else here did...the LP caused a worse headache than the one that I was in the ER for in the first place. Ugh!_____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...
Muenkel 0 #19 October 13, 2007 I had a concussion about a month ago. The pain in my head was excrutiating. In the ER, the doctor said I needed a spinal tap. After about a half hour, he asked me whether I wanted to have the spinal tap. My answer was 'not if I don't need one'. So apparently in my local hospital, spinal taps are optional. After reading about everyone's experience with a spinal tap, I'm glad I said no. _________________________________________ Chris
