Anyone had a spinal tap?

Recommended Posts

My headache was non-existent! Well, as long as I was laying down. I can't remember where it was at, but it did hurt-if I wasn't flat on my back.

Wouldn't go away, after several days (been a while, can't remember) the Dr. hauled me back in, drew some blood and stuck the blood where the needle made a hole in my spinal column, thus creating a scab and solving the problem.

Again, it's been a while, but if your headache continutes, you might speak with your Dr..

Hope your head stops aching soon!

These descriptions sound exactly like what I'm going through. Thanks for the help!

It seems to be better this morning, so crossing the fingers.

You are welcome. But I see a Real Live Dr. chimed in with what I would guess is an unoffical opinion. Listen to the Doc. I am not one, and didn't even stay at some motel last night. ;)

I got a post LP headache and they do suck. laying down and caffeine are the two best home remedies. Typically - at least in our area - they won't do a blood patch for 48 hours after the LP. The blood patch immediately took my post LP headache away.....though.

LMFAO!:D:D:D!!!!!
(Don't get me wrong - the headache has to suck royal ass-)

I equated it to feeling like my head was going to "pop-off"....it was actually worse than the initial headache that I was in the ER for.

I had myne just a couple of months ago. My head hurt anytime I went vertical for the rest of that day and all of the next day. That day was the worst; I went to my son's football practice anyway and then ended up curled up on the grass.

The next day it would not hurt right away but after a few minutes of being vertical.

I had a blood patch today. I'm still nauseous, but don't have the headache like I did.

I seem to have had the same situation that someone else here did...the LP caused a worse headache than the one that I was in the ER for in the first place. Ugh!

I had a concussion about a month ago. The pain in my head was excrutiating. In the ER, the doctor said I needed a spinal tap. After about a half hour, he asked me whether I wanted to have the spinal tap. My answer was 'not if I don't need one'.:S So apparently in my local hospital, spinal taps are optional.:S:S

After reading about everyone's experience with a spinal tap, I'm glad I said no.
