Nightingale 0 #101 August 28, 2007 Austin, our team coordinator, just called me to find out who was going. I listed Rosa and Lisa. If anyone else is going, they need to call Austin at AIDS Walk at 213-201-9255.
LisaH 0 #102 August 29, 2007 I'm losing someone very close to me soon. I said my goodbyes tonight. This, is why I walk. Not just to raise money. I have 6.2 miles to think about, and remember all of the loved ones I have lost. The friendships, the love, the good times, the bad times, the parties, the stop smoking lectures, the tall tales of, "yea, I'll do a tandem just because you say it's really fun." The constant, "I will be ok, and so will you." Be yourself! MooOOooOoo
McBeth 0 #103 August 29, 2007 I know your pain girl... I lost my dad to AIDS many years ago. One of the great things I remember from my childhood with him was our many trips to Disney World and our one trip to Disneyland. I was thinking of planning a trip to Disneyland on Saturday while I'm down there. Would anyone else be up for that?

I was thinking of planning a trip to Disneyland on Saturday while I'm down there. Would anyone else be up for that? Sweetie, I can totally relate. My late best friend (we were like sisters for over 10 years) and I went to Disneyland every year for her birthday for the last few of her birthdays before she died. Her death was not AIDS related...she was killed in a freak car accident one morning on her way to work. Still, Disneyland will ALWAYS remind me of her. It was the anniversary of her death on Saturday the 25th, and I had been thinking of her, Disneyland, etc. ***I would LOVE to go to Disneyland with our group, especially since it has special meaning for both Beth and myself for our remembered loved ones. Count me in! Ediited: One more thing...my late best friend and I had wanted very much to help those affected with AIDS through volunteer work. Prior to her sudden death, her and I had seriously talked of what we were going to do to help those stricken with AIDS. I am finally doing something in this area. I stayed away because it reminded me too much of her and my sadness at not having her in my life, but I know that she would be so happy, that one of was able to do this. It's not much, but it's a start. She is one of my inspirations for this, for sure. Now, Lisa and Beth (and their loved ones) are two more of my inspirations for doing this. VanillaSkyGirl 6 #119 September 4, 2007 Hey everyone~ This time...it's been difficult for me to get funds online : (, but I appreciate any little amount added or donated via check or whatever method is best. Therefore, I decided to try something different this past weekend. I made cookies and had a Cookie Fundraiser for the AIDS Walk at the DZ on Sunday. In a couple of hours, I raised another $108 in cash for the AIDS WALK (check out my link)...woohoo! Thank you, SD Elsinore & friends! Oh, and my friend Tanya (SD Elsinore jumper) is also joining us. Nightingale 0 #120 September 4, 2007 I'm doing cookie fundraisers, too! (see "this is really strange" thread for my baking cookie saga). Not sure how well it'll work yet; I'm icing the cookies tonight.
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #121 September 4, 2007 Quote I'm doing cookie fundraisers, too! (see "this is really strange" thread for my baking cookie saga). Not sure how well it'll work yet; I'm icing the cookies tonight. Hahaha, I just looked at that thread. How ironic! I baked and sold mine rather quickly on Sunday. I was worried about them staying fresh in this weather (esp. in Elsinore.) I do not have the time to do much else at the moment, but I did bake quite a few cookies. I'm trying hard to raise funds, somehow. Kris, the cookies should go over well at your work or wherever you take them. I'm sure that they're really good...yum! Btw, I'm also selling jello shots on Friday and Sat. night at Chick's Rock, and all the funds will go to the AIDS Walk. I have some other plans, too. Maybe we can all have a little AIDS Walk party or AIDS Walk event as a group? I'm super busy, but I would love to do more. Let me know, if anyone has any ideas, ok? Nightingale 0 #122 October 12, 2007 Hey, everyone! Just an update: we've raised over $3,000!!!! This rocks, but we're still a long way from our goal. I know everyone's working hard, so this is just a reminder to hit up those friends and family members who said they were going to donate but forgot! Also, if we can get only 5 more people to Walk, we get our own meeting table, which will make everything so much easier... so, if any of you dz.commers are thinking about walking, please come walk! If any current team members can recruit friends or family, that would be awesome too!
Nightingale 0 #123 October 15, 2007 Just an update: I got an email from Austin, our AIDS Walk team coordinator, stating that our team is in the running for the top 20 AIDS Walk Teams this year! So, let's keep up the fundraising and get the Skydivers team in the top 20 AIDS Walk teams this year!!!!
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #124 October 17, 2007 That's wonderful news! I just put in $207 dollars more towards our fundraising from the jello shot donations at Chick's Rock. I ended up accidentally breaking $70 worth of bottles of vodka prior to making the jello shots, so I made much less this year. (The bottles smashed into each other, fell out of my car and onto my driveway.) I honestly have put in a lot of time and money to this cause, but I am still $70 short of my $1000 goal. Friends, please donate, if you can. I would definitely appreciate it. If not to me, then please do it for the team. Thank you to all who have donated. You are inspiring!
