Electric 8 Way

So you put yourself into the same group that thinks your nuts for skydiving.

Nope I can justify skydiving, thats all me, I do it for me and no one else. But sending electricity thru my body just for the pure amusement of the drunk on-lookers...I'll pass....

I suspect that most people do it to amuse themselves, not for the drunk on-lookers. ;)

Just get in while the group is large. You'll be fine. We have not killed anyone yet.:D

I still have a lot of respect for the little lady that did the the clit way.:o

Not only is hanging around with Spence expensive, it is toxic.
Wouldn't have it any other way, though.:)

I havent met Spence yet (heard a lot of good stuff about him) but my question is: in his avatar pic, he looks a lot like the character in family guy.... is this just a coincidence?

Care to explain again here? :) I've never heard about an Electric 8 Way?

eli

I was told that the rules were broken when I was told and didnt see it nor participate first hand, If it can be described I will let Spence, or Micduran or Peregrinerose or anyone else tell ya....

I am sure that if you did a search on "electric 8 way" on here, you will find ample info to describe it.

I've done a few in my time. Yes, it took a few beers to work up the courage, but I've managed the 2 way a couple times, and the last time I did it I got down to a 3 way with Spence and somebody else at Monroe a few years back.

You get that tingling sensation in your hands and arms when it's an 8 way. The smaller the way gets, the stronger the tingling gets. By the time its down to a 4 way, that tingling has become a jackhammer effect. It's a blast!

Saw a Black Knight brazenly do an electric solo.

When we thought he had done enough dancing and stuttering, we pulled the plug.

BK: Don't EVER let me do that again!

Good grief... that took some mighty big balls.....;)

No balls...just stupidity and a willingness to show it off.

Now there's a large load of crap right there!

The potential is 12 times worse and the current available is approximately 750 times greater. People get killed by plain ol' 120 volts every year; no one I know of has been killed by a 9 volt battery. (Well, I suppose you could load it into a gun and shoot someone with it!)

An electric 8-way is no worse than putting a 9-volt battery on your tongue. It's only when it gets down to 2-4 that it gets interesting. Even then, the amps are so low that theres not much danger in doing it. Your muscles clench up, whoopty-doo.

*raises bullshit flag*

It can take less than 500 milliamps (.5 amp) to cause fibrillation, if I recall correctly. A wall outlet is normally on a 16-20 amp breaker. That's 2 - 2.5 amps per person in the initial 8 way and increasing from there, under the right conditions.

The first part of that is right, but the second part isn't. The voltage is divided down but the current isn't. The reason electric 8-ways aren't usually dangerous is that our skin is a reasonable insulator (around 50-100K for dry hands) and thus allows very small amounts of current through.

With 8 people, each person is seeing approximately 16 volts, and sees perhaps .3 milliamps. With two people, you're seeing about 2 milliamps, which you can definitely feel.

Of course, add wet skin, sweat, wet clothing etc and that number goes up rapidly.

The good news about AC is that although it can disrupt your heart, it hits your muscles the same way, and since AC is alternating it will make you jerk around pretty violently - which generally makes you drop the wire. DC is a lot more dangerous because it doesn't change. If you 'freeze' in a position where the current is still flowing, you won't be able to move to free yourself.

:S

... I must be getting old... when I came up, I was told that "back in the day" an "Electric" what-ever way was everyone on the load droped acid before the jump...

:o

Why do you think they hooked themselves up to a wall outlet?:|

Here is the polite response I got for asking that question before:

That is a pretty good explanation. It can actually be a game of sorts. Start with 8 People, When someone lets go and Breaks the circle, They are out. Now 7 people and so on.

Last few time we actually designated a "Safety Officer" that would standby to unplug if needed.

When a certain Rasta Rican decided to play electric One way, It was VERY needed.B|:S

A Tens unit can be a lot more fun and safer for small groups.:);)

So we're looking at .25mA in the initial 8 way going up to about .75mA in the 2 way, assuming a best case scenario.

I'm a bit more worried about a worst case... wet hands, someone stumbles against a steel beam or steps in a puddle....

*zap* skydiver fricassee, anyone? [:/]
