Armour666 0 #26 October 19, 2007 Quote Let me preface this rant acknowledging that I screwed up. I completely forgot to pay my $32.15 gas bill last month. Actually I thought I did pay it (I always pay online) but the payment didn’t go through (Most likely I didn’t hit the Last Are you sure Button). So yesterday, I get home to a notice on the Door sayng my gas was turned off. No warning, No letter, Nothing. They just show up and turn it off and leave a note.OK, No big deal, I screwed up (Although a reminder would have been nice). Call them up pay they bill instantly. Had service for 10 years at this house, Never had a problem before, They want me to pay a security deposit now.Whatever.. it is just $150, OK, Pay it. And a reconnect fee of $60.. OK pay it. (Pretty expensive $32 gas bill now).. Now here is the real Pisser and what has me livid this morning... It will be 7 day before they can send someone out to turn the gas back on!!! A week without Hot Water, Cant Cook and no Heat. Over a $32.15 Bill that 33 days late. They can get someone to out to turn it Off but they get someone out to turn it back on?? Anyone here know how to remove a Barrel Lock? The gas is coming back on today one way or another. Maby quote them this http://rules.sos.state.ga.us/docs/515/3/3/01.pdf If it's on 33 days it says you have 45 Days from the date of the bill.SO this one time at band camp..... Before the advent of on-line bill-pay I used to pay everything but the credit card every other month with no adverse effects.
billeisele 130 #29 October 19, 2007 this is not regulated utility activity you should thank the federal government, in their infinite wisdom they think that deregultion is a good idea, thus some states have deregulated GA is one state where the retail sale of natural gas is deregulated, it simply added 2 more layers of operating units - thus 2 more layers of profit, no wonder the price did not go down but actually went up I work for SCE&G, a regulated electric and gas utility in SC, SCANA is the holding company, SCANA Energy is one of the largest natural gas suppliers in GA, be sure that if we could not make a profit we would not be there trucking, phones and banking are deregulated, if you are happy with how these work then you should support utility deregulation, the utility industry is larger than all these other industries combined, deregulation is a huge failure in CA and they sure wish they could put the genie back in the bottleGive one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
