VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 October 22, 2007 Hello everyone, I am searching for more contacts within the educational field dealing specifically with special needs students. This first one is urgent. I am looking for either a resource teacher or a school psychologist. I need to be able to obtain an assessment testing tool and go over methods used to assess special needs students. Special needs children include those students who have physically disabilities, autism, learning disabilities, mental retardation, emotional/behavioral disorders or gifted/talented students. I also need to be in touch with special education administrators or teaching teams, and I specifically am interested in those working within the elementary school level. I am interested in public school's collaborative relationships with outside support services/agencies for special needs students. Also, I also need to interview an adult, who is special needs (physically challenged, learning disabied, autistic, mentally retarded, gifted/talented, etc.) so I can compare what it was like for that person to grow up with those needs. I am comparing what their school experience was like then, and what special needs students' experience is like now. Parents of special needs children, it would greatly help me to be in contact with you. I would love to be able to see an IEP. I am creating some mock ones for (all mock) children with disabilities. Also, knowing what it's like for you & the child, and what your preferred interactions are with educators would greatly benefit me in the future. Our goal in my Survey of Special Populations class is to be able to give special needs students schooling within the least restrictive environment possible, which would be inclusion. Thank you for your help!
 ExAFO 0 #2 October 22, 2007 My ex-girlfriend calls me a retard. Do i qualify?Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW. Later, I was a special needs teacher in a residential school and in several public schools. I have been an elementary and high school principal and am now a middle school principal charged with designing and maintaining regular education and special needs environments. We use many assessments and models of classrooms vary widely. I could probably provide some of the information you are looking for and get you in touch with some special education teachers for your survey.
