Knowing you have only months to live

Recommended Posts

My uncle passed away this past weekend, but in more of a sadder place - hospice, and unconscious for nearly 2 weeks. My condolences to your family [:/]

my condolences-
sometimes the shock carries one through the grieving process....my thoughts are with you.

I have found the last few weeks that I start crying all of a sudden, without any notice- instead of fighting it off-I just go with it, allow my emotions to happen- give them time. To think I actually thought I was prepared?

August 20 1952 - September 25 2007

With great pride I celebrate the life of my big brother.

Ed was a true character, a man of strong personal integrity, commitment and inspirational endurance through all adversity.

Regardless of lengthy illness;
Crohn's Disease, 25 years of home peritoneal feeding- Hemochromatosis, Survivor of septic shock, Enucleation of his left eye, Chronic Kidney Disease, recent diagnosis of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia..
Ed stood heroically as my mentor enriching my life with his sincerity.

Unfortunately nurses found him without a pulse and called me to advise me to come to the hospital as they were rushing him to ICU. When I arrived he was on total life support, brain dead and having seizures every 3-4 seconds. I held his hand while life support was removed. Watching his skin change color was gruesome. Apparently this is supposed to be therapy for loved ones, helpful in accepting the death....

My brother has helped me celebrate my life, have gratitude for how fortunate I am. He fought to the end with such strength, never gave up hope- regardless. I am so relieved he has passed and has no more suffering- in peace.

SMiles;)

I am not going to be able to make it our for my Uncle's funeral, and the idea of doing a memorial jump in his honor crossed my mind. I talked it over with my aunt (his first wife), and she was ecstatic about the idea. A skydiver friend of mine suggested I take something along of his on the jump; something that he loved. The first thing that came to my mind was his Harley. He LOVED to ride! But of course, there is no way I'm taking THAT out of a plane! My friend suggested a Harley Davidson T-shirt. My mother and aunt both said the same thing. So this was suggested three times by three different people, and none of them got the idea from eachother. So my aunt is mailing a shirt to me, and I'm gonna take it out on a jump.

I think we'er going to do the standard "missing man" formation, but if anyone else has anything to add/any other suggestions, please send them my way. This is going to be treasured by my family for years.

GO See Him whenever you can! And BE yourself! No pity no sorrow, just love and moments! NOW!! Your question is "Knowing that I only have months to live" Well, if I knew that I only had months to live and if capable, I would take out a LOAN for about $25k and fast track my 1st customfit rig and ride that bastard as many time s I could where it is warm! Oh... and the wife could tag along too if she desired! : DD YeeHAW!!
