Storage Question

Recommended Posts

Im going to college in the fall. I am bringing my rig with me and want to keep it secure from drunk roomates. Im thinking a good duffle bad to hold all gear, a hefty padlock to secure the zipper, and the bike lock through the padlock to something in the closet. Will this be safe and secure?

I kept my gear right in my room while I lived on campus, and now that I live in my own house with friends as roommates who go to school with me, I still just keep it around. When I was in a dorm I would slip it under my bed next to my gear duffle bag. I never had any problems with it. Most of the time people would look at it and go "what the hell is that?" If you're worried about theft/damage, look into getting renters insurance which is offered by most universities. I know mine had it. Or you can check if your local DZ has lockers, and you can store it right there.

Good luck.
Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I've kept rigs under my bed [sheet around the bed, no visibility] with a bike lock passed under the MLW and around a secured bed post. Without bolt cutters, destroying the rig or taking the bed with them, there was no chance of losing it. Being under the bed, it was safe from any beer spills. Nobody knew that the rig was ever there.

That said, I trust my roommates - I've known them for years. If I was coming into freshman year with a rig? I wouldn't even let my roommate see it. It's cool to some... it's a $4,000 backpack to others.
I really don't know what I'm talking about.
